I had a birthday the other day. I'm a whole 63 years old now. I'm a tired 63. I'm getting white hairs, and I recently found out that my feet are too far past it to even bother to operate on. My foot X-Rays look like the drawings of a child who was just guessing what feet look like. I learned two things from those X-Rays though: You can get bone spurs on the tops of your feet too, and you can actually see arthritis in X-Rays. I figured my feet were bad, and would probably need operating on. I just didn't expect to hear that they were in such bad shape there would be no point in that. The doctor wants to get me some orthotics made, but he also expects me to buy a $200 pair of running shoes to put them in. You paying for that Doc?
We spent the day at Emma's, and my sister came too. Emma made me a nice lunch and a delicious cake, and we played music trivia. Nobody will ever play trivia with me, (or Emma). We are too much competition. She got me, amongst other things, another Alice in Wonderland mini set, and a Hallmark mini mixer ornament. One of the things Fuzz gave me was The World's Smallest Boombox.

It's a real wireless speaker. The buttons on top all work, and it's just the right size for Tammy World.
Tammy World had a birthday too, of course, but she's eternally 11 years old.
It seems I go to the store more often now than when we had money to shop with. That's because I am always buying supplies for Ken or piking up prescriptions, or shopping for marked down produce, because cooking for Ken is more complicated now. I need a lot of fresh veg because I cook almost everything from scratch to make sure Ken doesn't get too much salt or carbs, or...pretty much anything else. Well, if I'm going to go to a store with a toy department, I'm going to check out the stuff. So I have seen a lot of things lately that I have wanted to share with you. I don't get much time these days to do posts though, so I am trying to fit this in before the pictures get too old to be relevant. Here are some of the things that caught my attention.
These Ily dolls are nice. They're pretty, and articulated. That first one is even clearanced at Walmart.
Some of the Rainbow High dolls are clearanced too. Oddly enough they aren't all clearanced for the same price.

I hadn't seen the Barbie Dream Besties before. While Ken looked like somebody I'd want to smack across the head...

How smarmy looking can you get? |
This Malibu Barbie was in the clearance aisle too.
This pretty Spellbound doll was clearanced for $5 in the clearance aisle.
I only just heard of Vida the Vet, and she's clearanced already.
These Be My Bestie dolls are at CVS. They're about 2 feet tall. They are kind of cheap looking, but resemble some Disney dolls I've seen.

I like the plaid dress. |

The red haired one is my favourite. |
Tammy World has had her eye on this Squishville set for months. She really wants that green bear....or whatever it is. But that price is crazy for such a small toy! At the other CVS on the other side of town, it was even more!

There was also this Littleistas Baby Lily doll. She's pretty cute. I guess she will grow up to be a Naturalista.
Something I saw that I REALLY want, but won't get, is the deviled egg set from the Mini Brands Make It Spring line.

You know I've been getting a lot of free display Mini Brands. I would love to get this one when it's empty, but that's not going to happen. Why? Well, this thing is not only attached to the endcap, but it's huge! This is Ken sitting next to the display.

I think they might notice me walking out with this giant display, and they might question that one. And Mini Brands are not in the budget. I hinted before my birthday, but I didn't get it. Besides, it's a blind box type thing, and there would be no way of being sure I'd get the deviled eggs.
That's all for now. I will try to show up more often. I just always seem to be cooking or doing dishes, taking Ken to an appointment, or I am so tired I can't think straight enough to put together a post. I'll work on it.
Happy birthday, and sorry about your feet giving you fits. I'm gimpin' too.
ReplyDeleteI reviewed the Fidgie Friends on my blog. They're cute, but the idea of combining a doll with a fidget toy doesn't really work well for either the doll or the fidget toy. The ramen doll's skirt all but immobilizes her hips. On the other hand, I'm delighted to see new clothes for the Naturalistas; they're a unique size with very realistic feet, and thus they can't share clothes with our ol' friend Barbie.
It's good to see Ken oot and aboot. I hope he'll continue to improve.
Good luck with your gimpiness. I hope it's something that will pass! i must have missed your Fidgie Friends post.
DeleteHappy birthday!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteHappy late birthday, Tam! Sorry to hear about your feet. The older I get, the more things hurt or just don't work like they should. Glad you and Ken were able to get out for a bit, even if it was just for necessaries. Our Friday night "date" is usually to pick up groceries.
ReplyDeleteHey there
ReplyDeleteI came across your blog while looking for info on Bradley dolls. More specifically the musical ones. I saw you had a lot of knowledge so I'm hoping you might be able to help me find even a picture of the one I'm trying to track down x
Hi I have a brown eyed sister Belle , trying to find out why she has brown eyes with blonde hair! All the others are blue eyed can you help explain why ? I was given it in 1965. Everything else is exactly the same !
ReplyDeleteI've never seen or heard of a brown-eyed Sister Belle! Are you sure the paint is original and not retouched by someone to match their child? Or maybe it turned colors in a hot attic?
DeleteI suppose it could be just an oddball. I know that sometimes they made Chatty Cathy dolls with certain eye/hair color matches, etc., that weren't "supposed" to be made, but they ran out of eyes on a line and grabbed a few from another line, used up outfits from a previous model on the next model, that sort of thing. I suppose it's just possible that they ran out of of blue paint one day and used brown paint until the next shipment arrived the next day, something like that?
The site owner and her husband have been having some health problems, so that may be why she hasn't gotten back to you? I don't know if it would help any, but you might want to scroll on the pink and red listings on the right until you see Sister Belle and click on her name and post your comment on the Sister Belle page itself. That way, if anyone in the future who has one with brown eyes comes looking on info on her, they will see your comment. On this recent random blog entry, they probably wouldn't.
I have a brown eyed sister belle talking from Mattel..I can only find a blue eyed ones ..?
ReplyDeleteI think the other commenter has some good ideas. She could have been touched up, or they could have accidentally used a Matty Mattel body. Matty has brown eyes. Maybe they ran out of Belles and just used Mattys. Other than the eye colour and the hair, their heads were exactly the same. You might have a rarity.

ReplyDeleteHappy belated birthday! I understand the feet and the spurs. If you have a GOOD chiropractor in your area, he or she may be able to help you. Bone spurs are caused by something rubbing causing inflammation. It's the body trying to protect the area that is being irritated therefore producing the spur. Anyway, when I worked for a chiropractor, he seen people for spurs avoiding surgery. My family still goes to him and several years ago, I had the pleasure of a miserable bone spur on my left foot. The problem was actually a muscle on my calf. I seen him I believe twice for this and then the spur dissolved. Another thing you can try is drinking apple cider vinegar with water of course. Thanks for sharing all the pictures and glad to see Ken out shopping with you ❤️
