Doll-A-Day 2023 #334: Baby Santa

Today's doll is one that belonged to my sister when she was a kid. I played with him too. He's...Santa Claus.

Now this guy isn't your ordinary Santa doll. For one thing, he has a beard, but a baby's face! He also has blonde hair, which is weird. There was an African American version of this doll, and he has blonde hair too.

With little baby curls along the bottom.

He's about 9 inches tall. He's almost exactly the same size as my Newborn Thumbelina, and in my world when I was a kid, he was her boyfriend.

He used to be much more plush I guess! He's all soft and stuffed, except for his soft rubber head.

My sister was born in 1956, but I'm finding this doll described as a 1955 Knickerbocker baby Santa. He would have originally had a Santa hat too. We always had a little velvet Santa hat floating around in our doll clothes. I figured it was his, but all the pictures I see have him with a hat with a bell on the end. Ours has a pom pom. I have it somewhere.

That's today's doll. Also check out the first day of The Twelve Days of Tammy World post today.

Doll-A-Day 2017 #358:Santa Claus

It's Christmas eve! I made it. Everything is done but filling the stockings and wrapping Ivy and Fuzzy's cheese, which, being cheese, has had to be kept in the fridge until Christmas morning. I wrap it as close to Christmas as possible so the paper doesn't get soggy. If you're wondering why they get cheese,it's special cheese that we have to drive over an hour to get,in a town we never go to otherwise. And, duh, it's cheese!
Well, no rain yet. We still have snow.Today we're celebrating Christmas eve with Santa Claus!

You'll have seen the little guy before during the last year of Doll-A-Day. You can check out his day HERE.

You can recognize him by the giant gash on his forehead.

The larger guy has a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on his backside, but it also says 'Made in Japan'.

Huh?!

They're a sweet pair of Santas.

Tomorrow is Christmas. I hope all of you who celebrate it have a wonderful day!

Doll-A-Day 314: German Incense Smoker Santa and Fresh Tomatoes in December!

Ok, technically he's not a doll. He's figural though, and he's pretty cool. He's a German incense smoker in the form of Santa Claus.

I got him in the mail today, as a gift from a friend in Germany.

He's made of wood.

His lower half holds an incense cone.

But when it burns the smoke comes out of his mouth!

It would be cool if it came out of his pipe, but that's kind of small for the smoke to get through. When it comes out of his mouth it almost looks like it's coming out of his pipe.
Ivy and I were pretty excited by Birgit's package. We immediately partook of the German goodies, which included cookies and chocolates.MMMM... And then of course we had to set this guy on fire...Well, not him, obviously. He was working really well, but then his incense went out. I told Ivy she blew it out too soon.
I have to share this picture too.
This was actually taken today. December in Ohio, and I have ripe tomatoes on the plant I brought inside when cold weather started in September! They look delicious! Fresh vine ripened tomatoes in December! As you can see, the leaves are dying, but the tomatoes live on. I also ate a couple of tomatoes on Friday that I picked when they were green, back in September, when I brought the other plant in. They'd been laying in an aluminum pan, slowly ripening ever since.I actually had two pans of green tomatoes, but the ones I ate on Friday were the last ones. The race was on to see if they would ripen before they went bad, but they didn't start to go bad until they fully ripened. And then I had only had one that got a bit soft before it got fully ripe. The rest were delicious though!

See you tomorrow for another winter doll.
