Doll-A-Day 2023 # 219: Rosebud Goldstar Rose

Today's doll is a Rosebud Baby named Gold Star Rose.

The Rosebud dolls were made by Mattel, and the sculpts were later used for the Heart Family babies and the Teacher Barbie kids.

A 'beautifully elegant' baby.

They were sold in 1974.

The back of her box pictures the six original Rosebud dolls. They are all named after real roses.

I previously posted about the Pink Heather Rose doll, and my research then showed that there were seven dolls in the original Rosebud line, but the back of the box only shows six. There were also three later Rosebud dolls that were just given regular names.

I think this one is prettier than Pink Heather Rose.

She's so cute. She has a sort of Baby Beans type face. Her dress has a long ribbon on the front that was the bane of my existence while I was trying to take her pictures.

The ribbon had been folded upward in the box, and it kept trying to return that way every time I let go of it!

There it goes!

Got it!

just in the nick of time!

The bodice of her dress has an embroidered rose applique, and a velvet bodice.

Holding the ribbon down for this one!

These little dolls are about 4 and a half inches tall, and way too huge to be babies for Barbie sized dolls. Toddlers maybe, but they have curved chubby baby legs, so they can't stand.

See?

There goes that ribbon again. You can see how curved her legs are here.

Her dress has a built in slip too.

But the thing that really stands out about this doll is her cute cute, and her brown eyes.

That's today's doll. See you tomorrow.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #62: Rosebud Doll

Tomorrow is my birthday. I'm still deciding what I want to do. I did want to postpone my birthday celebrations until the opening of the King Tut exhibit in Columbus. Then I found out the exhibit is all reproductions. I'll pass. I'd spend $40 to see the real stuff, but not fakes.

Today's doll is one that the dealer at the doll show didn't know anything about. She was looking for any information, so if you know anything about this doll, please leave a comment, and I'll pass it on to her. Here's the doll.

The doll was given to the dealer by a friend who grew up in England, from what I understand. She looks like a 1960's doll to me. The dealer did have what she was told was the doll's original box.

'Rosebud The world's most beautiful doll'.

Rosebud was a company based in England, so, not the name of the doll, but instead, the name of the company. The box looks like the doll could be as far back as the late 50's. I'm still guessing a 1960's doll though. She is about 20 inches tall, give or take a couple of inches. She has rooted hair and sleep eyes. So if you have any idea who this doll is, please let us know.

That's today's doll. We'll see what tomorrow has in store.
