I thought from the look of her that she was an Italian doll, and I was right.
I thought she might be a Furga,but she's marked Z Z.
She was made by Zanini and Zambelli.
A lot of things about her remind me of the Furga 'S' girls. I've had a few of those, and she has quite a resemblance to them.
She has sleep eyes, which the 'S' girls don't,her eyelashes aren't huge and feathery, and her arms aren't quite as curved. She still has a similar look though.
She's about 17 inches tall.
Her dress has a petticoat with lace that matches the lace on the sleeves.
She also has bloomers and white tights. She's missing her shoes. She has a choker necklace made of the same velvet as the dress.
Unfortunately the back of her hat and dress are faded quite badly.
| But look at those curls. |
I found several of this same doll online, and the hat seems to be all different ways. Some showed the brim unfolded, and some showed it folded one way, and some a different way.
That's the doll for today.
See you back here tomorrow for another one.
I wonder if that company is related to the current Zanini company that make knock off Kinder Surprises
ReplyDeleteOoo, she's a pretty one!
ReplyDeleteShe looks very pretty. I will have to do a Google search so I can see more of these dolls.

Deletei got mine from a close-out small,ma & pop store, the scent of vanilla, and other pleasant smells are typical of european dolls.however, the smell of baloney was probably from the play of a child who had eaten/handled their baloney sandwich.the most important thing,is that my doll really does have detachable eyes.this may have been a prototype doll that they were testing, copying the small dolls of the 1960s that could change eye color (blythe?).although, with those the mechanism is different for the eye change.the 28" monster high has a doll that changes eyes but are not detachable, and so does a dora the explorer doll ( maybe 2014?).those dolls have a lever in the back.although my doll's unique eye changing is interesting-the eyes are not quite as pretty.they are in colors of amber and blue green.i suppose these could have been the company selling off old parts toward the end to other companies.somewhat like the ideal company sold parts of the crissy doll to horsman for the pert n pretty doll.
DeleteWell that answers a few questions! Ha! The balony scent sounded especially weird. My doll is old and second hand, so it may have originally had a scent, but doesn't now. When you said detachable eyes I imagined removable eyes! The fact that you got her at a closeout store may mean that she is a doll made of stray doll parts that were leftover from other dolls, as you say. Does she have the same face too? You may have quite a unique doll. What country are you in? Also, the 2 and a half years between the comments made it confusing too. I wasn't sure the comment went to the original one.
Deleteit does have removable eyes.they have a magnetic type mechanism (i guess) and the eyes are made of something that it adheres to (acrylic?).it also has the same face.the 2 and a half years between the comments was because i had lost interest in doll collecting-and,then i saw a doll somewhere in a vintage shop...and my hobby was back.
