Toy Show Haul, Including Pippi Longstocking

Holy cow. I have missed the Doll Book of the Month Club for the second month in a row. Honestly, I can't find my books. I brought two from Emma's that I was going to do when we moved back to the house, plus one here, and I can't find any of them. I really need to sort some books out.

And it has been a month and a half since my sister and I went to the toy show, and I still haven't shown you what I got. Today I am taking a sit down day because yesterday my bad leg and my back were hurting so much, and I was so stiff, that I could hardly walk. So, it seems like a good time to look at that toy show haul.

This toy show has loads of dolls. It seems like it has more dolls all the time. That's good, because I collect both. However, it's kind of messing up my old thing about getting good deals on dolls at toy shows because the dealers aren't used to dealing with dolls. A lot of these dealers are.

I didn't buy much, and some of what I bought wasn't dolls. For instance, the set of limited edition Beatles cards that complete my 90's set.

This mini guitar isn't a doll either. but it can be used with one.

These are quite expensive, but this one came with the case and a stand, (which I forgot to photograph), and it was only $15.

I bought something that is actually a doll, but it's going to be a gift for someone, so I'm not showing it. But I will show you this tiny doll.

He's marked My Toy 1965.

He's about Kiddle size, at 4 inches tall, only with a very similar body, but a larger head. He originally came wearing a blue and white striped one piece outfit with a neckerchief. (I'm not sure if it was attached to the outfit, but I think so.)  He might be a My Toy Half Pint doll. If not, he at least has the same head and body, but may be a different series.

The last thing I bought was this very familiar doll.

She's about 11 inches tall.

She's a 1972 Horsman Pippi Longstocking doll.

Pippi is a much beloved character, from the books by Astrid Lindgren.

The dealer sold her to me for only $5, because she thought Pippi was in really bad shape! I forget how she put it, but she shrugged at my saying I'd take her for the $5 she asked, and said basically, that she was rough or something. She seemed to think she was beyond fixing! I don't really see much she needs though, besides her hair combed. She has her complete outfit, including shoes, socks, and undies. She has all her hair. She just needs her ponytails done up again. This version didn't have her hair braided, or sticking up.

I have a weakness for red haired dolls, dolls with freckles, (Both things I never wanted myself. At least I avoided the freckles.), and dolls with goofy faces. Pippi dolls usually hit three bullseyes.

So that's what I got. Doll shows seem to be over until about August. The next toy show I go to is in October. But I'll be around.

    1. I tend to like Pippi dolls in general. I like this one, but even better is the soft bodied one made with this same head. She has longer legs, so she's more realistically proportioned, (Says the person with the world's shortest legs!),and she just looks more cuddly.

  2. Pippi is adorable, as is the smaller doll--in fact, they look like they could be related!

    1. That small one would be cool on a body more proportionate to his head too, wouldn't he?

  3. Pippi Longstocking is cute.

But I prefer the little "1/2 pints" guy. Someone is selling a doll like him on Ebay and call him a Terry doll. But your Terry doll, that comes up in a search for Terry dolls, has a very different body and face... And her face is the same face that most dolls have that come up in a search for "Half Pint doll" and "1/2 pints." ...Wish that I could find a doll like him too... But not too expensive...

I like his body, but I am sure his head could fit an Obitsu 11 and similar bodies... I have Tutti and similar Kiddle heads on such bodies.

    1. I was also thinking how great he'd be on a bigger body. My Tiny Terry doll here:

...has a very similar body. I have seen these guys several times. I don't think he's impossible to find, and not super expensive. I think I found you one! https://www.ebay.com/itm/145484098866?itmmeta=01HX52AWFCM0PT29BC8KJC0AK2&hash=item21df872d32:g:8WsAAOSwSYJk5X9W&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAAwBXAlYwxMr2%2FE39UDB0h%2BHvPQe1O529teqs65QRd0NeNdjMDopV0YrUwTHMNAb0fgRD5%2BVyh6tkFtssCUb2XvgR2rscDFc%2FWaPRbJFL405cMHWNilz%2FPQMiCNdIyZkJ45RXAFw2uRCQYifXNyNV%2FnjPMYhDzwRCBPVJBoFw71u3s9e1tOnIQ6XvcZLcu37QTszF8S1A3ZVf2ARmOjHvdx8xGKsIBIZDdzvHEj%2FH6hRdp1FeDV71YPON22gTJupiC6g%3D%3D%7Ctkp%3ABk9SR-7Hq6LpYw

    2. Thank you. While he does look good, he will cost me more than $30 including shipping to Norway, and I feelingen that is too much

    3. Sorry Annett. I didn't know where you are. Did you get this brand of toys in Norway?

    4. I do not think that they used to get these in Norway, no. Mostly Lundby, ARI, Ratti, Barbie, Sindy, Petra, and some Norwegian companies, like Lærdal (made both playline dolls like Anne, and medical dolls like the rescue doll Anne/Annie).

    5. I've heard of all of those except the last one. It's a shame about the postage. I would think it could be sent in a small padded envelope fairly reasonably. There's nothing about him that would break, as he's all rubber and wire. You also have to pay a large duty fee on things like that too, don't you? I've sent packages to friends in England and Germany and they mentioned that.

    6. Yes, we have to pay VAT. And if we do not pay it to the seller (Ebay and Etsy collects it), we have to pay a fee to the Norwegian Postal Service for the job of doing the work for us.

You may not have heard of Lærdal (medical) Company. But Michael Jackson mentioned Annie in a song. She was not OK, she needed resuscitation...

    7. Was Annie one of those life size dolls people practice life saving on? How do the postal people know if you have paid VAT to Ebay or Etsy?

    8. Yes, she is/was, and now comes in several sizes. Most that I have seen are leg- and armless.

A code on the packing slip, I think.

  4. She is soooo cute. I've always loved Pippi (wanted to be her when I was a kid). I'd love to find this doll someday. How tall is she? (apologies if you said already) -ib

    1. She's about 11 inches tall. There's also an 18 inch one that has the same head, but a plush body, and longer legs, and sort of Thumbelina type hands. The outfit is the same too. But I think the bigger one is even cuter.

  5. I loved the Pippi books as a girl; I would have liked to be Pippi's friend. I made it to the doll show too. I guess we missed each other. As usual, our photos are rather different, which is probably nicer for blogging purposes. I did notice those Dionne quints, but I don't think I could own a set.

    1. I didn't spot you. What time were you there? I was in so much pain I just wanted to get all the way around and go home!

    2. I got there around quarter to noon and left around two. My sciatica was bothering me pretty badly once I got most of the way through, but fortunately me, sitting down for a while will ease the pain.

    3. The same with me. If I can just sit down for a couple of minutes my back is good to go again. Unfortunately all the dealers were using their chairs. (The nerve!) I couldn't find a chair to sit in until I was nearly ready to leave. We were there at the same time, but I didn't see you. Maybe next time we'll have to arrange a meeting spot.

    4. Oh, I got to sit down a couple of times where the food stand was. Once I sat and had a bit of a snack, and then I sat at the end waiting for Mr. BTEG to come back for me. I will admit I felt like sneaking a rest on some of the dealers chairs that were unoccupied. It would be easier to arrange a meeting spot now that I know what the place looks like.

    5. And maybe the next time we'll both be doing better physically!
