I am exhausted. It has been a busy couple of weeks. Between trying to get the yard back in order, (The grass had gotten quite tall because of all the rain, and me feeling too crappy to mow for a while.), gradually getting rid of our fallen tree, trying to clean up our yard after Winter and a windy Spring, (Being on a corner, every piece of trash in the neighbourhood blows into our yard.), lots of driving, including going to Ivy's college graduation this past weekend, (With traffic slow downs it was about 5 hour drive there.), loading our car, and Ivy's, like a game of Tetris, to bring home what she wasn't going to need and send what she was going to need with her to her new job, driving back home, unloading the car and taking Ivy's stuff upstairs to her room, (Ken did most of the hauling it upstairs.), and then driving 1 1/2 hours to her new town yesterday to take her some things she forgot, like her Social Security card, which she needed for her new job, I am wiped out! I'm so tired! My feet and legs are killing me, and the muscle in the back of my right calf hurts so much! I have fallen behind with some other things I need to do. Raging Moon and Michelle are still waiting for their dolls, but it will be worth it ladies. I have reviews to do, and a book post to get ready. I have dolls photographed that I want to share with you. Emma's birthday is coming up very soon, and all her gifts need wrapped. But, Ivy now holds two Bachelor of Arts degrees: Film History, and Theatre.

She already has a job at Cedar Point until at least August, and maybe further, taking care of the costumes for the nightly parade, and helping with changes. She might continue there, or she might go back to her college for what's called a 5th year internship. Eventually she wants to go to grad school for costume design. I'm so glad she has a job she loves doing. You can make loads of money, but if you hate what you're doing, it's not worth it. When she was a little kid I predicted that she would become an interior designer, because she was always drawing designs for cool rooms or furniture, or a clothes designer, because she was always designing 'pretty dresses'. I almost got it right.
Now, what you're really here for, dolls. I got this doll at the recent doll show.
This is her original outfit. The pinafore and dress are separate pieces, and she is also wearing a slip and bloomers, and white stockings, a straw hat, and blue Mary Jane shoes. |
I was thinking I was going to have to mow the grass again this evening, to keep up, but it has rained on and off since last night. I'll have to pass. I am grateful now, but I'll pay the price when I do get to mow, because it will be even harder. (Remember, I use a non-motorized mower.)
See you soon with another recent find!
Congratulations, Miss Ivy! I see she has pretty red hair like her mama does. Don't sweat it about that doll you wanna give me; life happened to me too, in a less positive way. If I'd had to put something in the mail I'd have been out of luck!
ReplyDeleteLa Cheri is very pretty. She reminds me a little of Sasha with her skin tone and her placid face. Of course now I want one, LOL.
Two thirds of my kids have red hair, much redder than mine is these days! Some people don't like the body on the La Cheri dolls because they have stuffed cloth legs and feet and can't stand up on their own. I think she'd make a wonderful play doll though. Super cuddly.
DeleteNow that you say that, she does remind me of a Sasha doll. lol
DeleteShe's so cute! I love her outfit. I know you have a life and that you will send her eventually, I wasn't worried. I think I have heard of this doll line, but I never had one. Her face is similar to anime, but it seems to work on her. Looking forward to new posts. :)
ReplyDeleteI've been putting off mailing your package for a reason that will become evident when you get it...I hope!
DeleteEven if you had just been busy, it was okay! I can't believe I didn't mention Ivy. What fantastic news on her graduation! You have shown her costume design on here so I know she is amazing. An internship sounds fun, I wonder what she will choose.
DeleteCongrats to Ivy! I wish her all the best in her career. I really like the doll. She does remind me a bit of a Sasha doll.
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteThat's three of you with the Sasha opinion now, and I still don't see it. I suppose maybe it's the...how do I put it? I've always thought of Sasha dolls as having... sort of vague faces? Kind of like a face that hasn't been fine tuned yet, not a finished face. Sort of a face with the detail missing. I suppose the Sekiguchi doll kind of has that quality too, only not as much as the Sashas. She's more 'in focus'. Is that it?
I think so, she seems to have a very simple face like the Sasha dolls. She definitely has a smile and they don't, but her not quite finished face does help the comparison.
DeleteI don't see the Sasha thing either, if it helps. :) Congratulations to your daughter. A job at Cedar Point sounds like so much fun; it's one of my favorite places in the world. Sekiguchi also produces most of the Momoko dolls now, with PetWorks only making a handful.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I think Ivy is enjoying her job. She ahs embarked on the mission of riding at least one ride every day, until she has ridden them all. (I'm sure she'll also repeat rides, especially the rollercoaster she loves.)
DeleteI like Momoko. If they weren't so expensive, I might have one.
Congrats to Ivy! It sounds like she has found a vocation she loves, which is wonderful! Your doll is very sweet--I have a few dolls that just "called" to me for some reason. She looks very serene, which is maybe where the Sasha comparisons come from. I love Momokos--I just picked up two at the GAW convention for a great price.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Yep. I always thought she might design clothes. I just didn't think about them being costumes. I like Momokos too, but if I managed to get that much together for a doll, there are other ahead of Momoko on the list.
