Doll-A-Day 2023 #316: Barnum's Animals Crackers Kelly

Today's doll is part of a 2002 series of  Kelly dolls called Barnum's Animals Crackers.

Better known as just 'animal crackers', the 'crackers' in question are the little animal shaped cookies that come in the little boxes that look like the wagons circus animals used to be hauled in.

There were three dolls in the series: Jenny as the tiger, Kayla as the lion, and Kelly as the elephant. The boxes were made to look like they were circus wagons too, with wheels. The box also has a string handle, like real boxes of animal crackers.

Why didn't Kelly have to paint her nose? And what happened to her shoes?

Kelly is wearing an elephant costume with a completely vertical trunk, and big ears lined in pink.

The bottoms of the pant legs have black elephant toenails on them. And all the dolls came with a mini animal cracker box.

That's it for today. See you again tomorrow.

-Doll-A-Day 2023 #294: Chelsea Can Be...Rock Star

Today we're looking at another doll I found for $1 at the bin store. There were loads of these, and nobody seemed to want them. At one point I had loads of them in my bag, but I gave all but one to another lady. She's going to be donated to a toy drive too. She's Chelsea  Can Be....

There was a whole line of the Chelsea Can Be... dolls, which included a scientist, a teach, and Olympic ice skater, a pizza chef, a business woman/boss, a builder, and a pilot. Nice to see that since her big sister was relegated to 'airline hostess', that Chelsea has advanced to pilot.
But this Chelsea is a Rock Star. And she has the blue hair to prove it.

She comes with some rock star sunglasses, shaped like stars, a microphone and stand, a pair of headphones,(with cat ears!), and a couple of VIP tickets to give out to those who grovel enough.

Those headphones have some nice detail.

And, of course, she ha a guitar.

The task is now finding somewhere to donate these toys I've been picking up.

  See you again tomorrow.

Doll-A-Day 2019 #284: Tutti

Today's doll is another I got at the junk/antique store on the last day of our vacation. She's Barbie's sister, Tutti.

To be more specific, she's Sundae Treat Tutti. She originally came in the Sundae Treat set, which was sold from 1966 to 1968,with her twin brother Todd,2 ice cream sundaes and two spoons, and a table and chairs set.

I thought at first she might be Night Night Sleep Tight Tutti. She and Sundae Treat are the only two  red haired Tuttis.

But you can tell this one is Sundae Treat because she has half moon shaped rooted places on the sides of her head,so that the hair can be pulled back like I have it.

This doll was a big mess when I got her.

But I could tell she was worth rescuing, unlike the Chris doll that was there. She was covered with chew marks, and what hair she had left was crispy. Blonde Chris dolls tend to have dry crispy hair.
This doll's arms don't bend at the shoulders any more. There's nothing I can do about that except bend her arms at the other spots and try to make them look as normal as possible...as they stick out to the sides weirdly.

But her legs are fine.

So far I have only worked on this doll's head. Her body still needs cleaned. I also have an extra Sundae Treat dress for her, when I find it. Right now she's wearing the sun suit from the 1966 Tutti fashion, 'Sand Castles'.

It needs washed too. I'm not too worried about it because I have a nice Sand Castles. I also have a Sundae Treat and a Night Night Sleep Tight Tutti. (When I got this Tutti, I was thinking I didn't have Night Night Sleep Tight Tutti, because I had one in box and sold it. But I do still have an unboxed one.) So I'm not sure what I'll do with this girl. I don't really need her.

But what does that have to do with doll collecting?

By the way, Tutti's playhouse is by Little Tikes

That's the doll for today. I have one more doll from vacation, and one more doll from the doll show to show you. See you tomorrow.

Doll-A-Day 2019 #160: Travelin' Sisters Stacie

I am still tired from all the moving stuff I did the other day. On Tuesday we spent hours loading a trailer, and were so worn out and achy we could hardly move when we got done. The next day we drove all the way to Georgia in one day.Well, it was an hour into the next day when we got there. We then spent about 3 hours unloading the trailer of stuff we brought down. After that we drove to a hotel and got about 2 hours of sleep before starting off again the next morning to come home. It was about 3:30 in the morning when we got home. I don't know if it was from all those hours of riding, but my ankles were like softballs that night. And I'm still tired.
Today's doll completes our celebration of Emma's birthday week for this year. She's another of Emma's straight from the box dolls.

Anybody have any suggestions for cleaning a plastic garden arch so it can be white again?
She's Stacie from the Travelin' Sisters set.

The set included Barbie,Skipper,Stacie, and Kelly, all in coordinating outfits.

You can see a video of the whole set HERE.

The set was a special edition from 1995.

Unlike the American version, the Japanese version used the Mackie head sculpt for their Barbie. Stacie has the same head sculpt as all the Stacie's of the era.

This is her original outfit.

12
It consists of a shirt, with another shirt worn over it.

The top shirt has checks and Scottie dogs on it.

Stacie also has jeans...

Her jeans close in back with a snap.
...white shoes...

...and a polka dot beret.

I used to wear berets. But when I wore them they were pulled down to the side of your head.

Ivy tells me that the way to wear a beret these days is to pull it straight back on your head a bit.

Stacie has white earrings.

She has articulation at the neck, shoulders, and hips, and click bend knees.

Emma had been after this set for years. I think she bought just the Stacie from Paul David at a doll show.

That's today's doll. See you again tomorrow for another one.
