Another Baby Dreams Velvet Skin Doll

   I did a post quite a while ago about Baby Dreams, the Velvet Skin Doll. Well apparently that was a doll that caught people's attention and interest, because somebody wanted to buy her right away. I sold her.. But people are still asking on a regular basis if I have another one. In fact, I got that question right after I bought another one this summer! I found her at a yard sale. So many people ask if I have one to sell, that I thought I should get her. So here she is. 

  Baby Dreams was made by Ideal in 1975. There were two versions. The first had a flocked face, arms, and legs. The second version only had flocking on her face and arms. This doll is the first version.

  Her flocking is in pretty good condition. These dolls can look pretty rough sometimes. 

   Both versions had a stuffed cloth body, so they were soft and cuddly. The bodies always look dirty, but they came in this weird tan colour.

She has a popped seam on one shoulder. I can fix that before shipping her, if the buyer wants me too. I'm pretty good at hidden stitches. It's one of my only sewing talents! 

  One of her sleep eyes sticks sometimes. It does work though, and her eyes are clear and bright.

She needs her hair done. Maybe conditioned a bit and combed.

 She doesn't have her original nightie.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #343: Magnetic Babies

  To start off, remember my friend Cheryl and her cat Ted? Both have had some heath problems recently. They very much need each other, and right now, whatever you believe in, be it, prayers, positive thoughts, or good vibes, sent their way, would be appreciated.   

I'm honestly not sure if I've posted these guys before. I feel like I have, but I can't find them anywhere on the blog. They're some cute babies that came from Dollar Tree several years ago.

  They're just the happiest looking little things.

  They have squishy bodies that feel like they are filled with sand, and magnets in their hands. I think that was so they could hold their bottles. I do remember that they came with accessories. The one had a high chair. I think the other one had a baby seat.

  Look at those weird feet!

He seems to have a...sheep? on the bottom of his foot.

  As you can see from them in my hand, they aren't very big. They must be about 3 inches tall or less.

  Those are today's dolls. 

  The good news is, I have finished one of my big projects, which gives me three days to accomplish the other two, as well as the smaller stuff I have to do. Shew! See you tomorrow.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #314: Lee Middleton Baby

   Happy Thanksgiving! Today we're going to see a doll of my sister's. I think she's a Reva Schick doll from Lee Middleton. **My sister says she was made by some lady, so she would have been made from a kit.** My sister named her Carmelita.

My sister kindly took these pictures for me, because I didn't have anything ready to post today. That's my sister, who doesn't collect dolls.

In the chair my mom's grampa made for her when she was a little girl. I realized today that this chair is almost 100 years old.

  I don't have much to say about her, so just enjoy these cute Fall doll pictures.  

I never realized this doll had so much Fuzzy the Doll in her.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #262: Plastic Baby Doll

   Today's doll belongs to my sister. He's a simple plastic baby doll.

  You can see where he used to have a bottle on his chest, that disappeared many decades ago. It was a 'magic bottle':  a clear plastic bottle with white sand in it, that disappeared when the baby was laid down.

  My sister was born in 1956, so he is most certainly from the late 50's. He's about 8 or 9 inches tall. The poor kid has a melt mark on his leg, as you can see. This old plastic does that, often from being in contact with another plastic it reacts to.

He has a marking on his back, but I can't read it. I do know that he was made by Irwin though. He's wearing a molded and painted diaper, but the paint is mostly worn off on the back, so it looks like he just has a weirdly lumpy butt.

  That's today's doll. Sorry it's short, but I am still doing wedding clear up duty, and trying to go through the pictures I took. See you tomorrow, when I will almost certainly photograph something to post, because Ken got my camera working again.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #228: Horsman Baby

   Today's doll is a cute baby. I swear I knew her name at one point, but now I can't remember and I can't find anything about her online.

She's marked Horsman and 1975 on the back of her neck.

  She has a peach coloured cloth torso, and a side body tag that also proclaims her Horsman-ness.

She has a really cute face, and that dry, coarse Thumbelina type hair. In fact, she reminds me quite a lot of Ideal's Thumbelina. A big difference is that Thumbelina has squinchy, grey, painted eyes, and this girl has big, bluey green pinwheel eyes.

They're sleep eyes, and she has black brush lashes. She does have Thumbelina's 1930's style pencil brows.

She has the same colour body as Thumbelina too, or at least, very similar. Her hands are similar, but not the same.

Thumb could move when her back knob was cranked. This girl can't move, but she can cry. She has a cry box inside, and when she's moved she cries. She still works great.

  Her yellow dress has white and yellow lace on the bodice, and a yellow ribbon that has seen better days.

 

And there's a matching ribbon in even worse condition in her hair!.

  I didn't measure her, but she's about 15 to 18 inches long I think.

  That's it for today. I will be able to show you what I've been working on soon. Saturday is a doll show and Emma's bridal shower. And Sunday is ANOTHER doll show! I will be going to both shows. The first one is the mostly fashion doll show that I go to with my sister, and the second one is a show I quite like for it's variety and good deals. I'll take my camera to both so you can 'go along' with me. Tomorrow will be just one regular doll though. See you then.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #226: Lissi Baby

   Today we're looking at this little kid.

She's about 15 inches tall, with a cloth body and vinyl head and limbs. That's about all I know about her, except that she's a Lissi doll, made in China.

She has short, thick blonde hair, and oddly purple eyes. I'm not sure they started life that way.

That's one thick head of hair for a baby.

She suffered no damage from fire or water, (or earth or air either, if we're speaking elementarily...) and she is anybody's for the price of shipping. I need to get rid of stuff, and I can't be bothered to try to sell everything. It's going to have to go one way or another, as we need things gone so we can redo and repair.
