Doll-A-Day 2019 #211:Seminole Dress Me Doll

Well, all the kittens have been rehomed except little George.

His last sibling,Fred, (Ivy named them after the Weasley twins because they are both gingers.),left for his new home on Sunday. George has had to resort to annoying his Uncles. Jimmy is very good about it and even plays with George, after originally fleeing from him after a brief smell. Joey is still fleeing. And step-uncle Mow is hissing less at him all the time. (Still doing it though.)
I had something else planned for today, but pouring rain changed my plans.I was also away most of the day and all evening because Emma treated Ken and I to a concert tonight. We went with Emma and her friend Erin to see ELO and Dhani Harrison. Dhani is the son of former Beatle George Harrison that I mentioned in my post on the Jim Henson exhibit a couple of days ago. It was a good show. Dhani and ELO were both very good. Dhani came on with ELO at one point to sing George's part in the Traveling Wilbury's song, "Handle Me With Care".
So, since I was so busy,we're looking at a doll I already had photographed. She's this lady.

She's a Dress Me type doll, which has been customized in the style of the traditional costume of the Native American Seminole women of Florida.

You may have seen my post on another Seminole doll I have. If not, you can see her HERE.

This doll is about 8 inches tall.

She has sleep eyes. Her arms move, but not her legs, which is pretty common for Dress Me dolls like this one.

Her outfit is two parts. There is a skirt, and a poncho-like top.

She also has little real leather moccasins.

She['s wearing a bead necklace and hoop earrings.

Her hair is long and tied back.

That's the doll for today. See you again tomorrow, when, hopefully, it will not rain and I can photograph the other dolls I wanted to do!

Doll-A-Day 2019 #210: Sweet Sue

I got my biopsy results today. No cancer! Now we just keep an eye on the nodules. I go back in a year for another ultrasound.
Today's doll is one that has been in the back of my glass case, behind other dolls, for so long, that I forgot I had her.

She's  Sweet Sue. (You may have seen my post on my other possible, but larger Sweet Sue HERE.)

Sweet Sue was made by American Character beginning in 1951.

Sweet Sue dolls came in many different sizes over her 10 years of  production. This one stands about 17 inches tall.

She has a blonde wig, which looks original, but could use some work.

It's synthetic hair.

It also needs to be reattached.

She's worth fixing, I think. She's so pretty, and the rest of her is in such nice condition.

Some Sweet Sue dolls are marked, but many, like this girl, have no markings at all. She is wearing her original dress and matching bloomers though, which helps identify her.

Her eyes are blue.

Her lashes are synthetic hair too.

She has sleep eyes.

She's a walker doll. Her head turns when her legs are moved. Not all Sweet Sues are walkers. And some, like my bigger doll, have jointed knees and elbows, and some even have jointed ankles. This one doesn't.

I don't even remember where I got this doll. She's nice though. I would like to fix her wig and keep her. But I'm not much good with hair.

That's the doll today. Tomorrow we'll look at another one.

Doll-A-Day 2019 #209: Crystal Ken

  Today's doll is this guy.

He's Crystal Ken.

He was made in 1983 to be Crystal Barbie's date.

The slogan on this doll's box claimed he was 'the handsomest Ken ever!'. Uh...yeah.

This guy has a blow dry, smarmy look that I hate.

He's far too John Davidson for me.

That's just not good enough, John.
 Probably more like this era.

Ewww!
The 1980's were my youthful years. But they were an era of  overdone hair,make-up,and clothes. Bright colours and loads of hair spray were really off putting to me.
This guy has an all white suit.

He should also have white dress shoes. Yuck.
His coat is a separate piece, but his shiny vest, shirt, and satin pants are all one piece.

He has he Ken body of the time, which has a twist waist.

His arms have swivel joints, so they can move up,down, and out to the sides, and completely elbows up.

His legs can actually move out to the sides a bit too,as well as back and forth.

  That's the doll for today.

See ya!
Come back tomorrow for another one.
