Doll-A-Day 2023 #28: Isabela

Before we start, let me remind you that there are free dolls available. If anyone would like to adopt a doll from the lady who contacted me about finding homes for her childhood dolls, please leave a comment with your contact information, which I won't print, and I will put you in touch with the dolls' owner. The dolls are totally free, including shipping, but it would be nice if you wanted to donate the shipping. The owner doesn't ask for it though. The dolls are all from the 1950's. They include a 'Miss America' doll, a 19" Ideal fashion doll, a cute 18" baby doll, and a 10 inch Arranbee Coty Girl doll. All have extra clothes, and remember, they're totally free. Their original owner just wants good homes for her childhood friends. You can see them by following the links above.

Today's doll is another from the Walmart exclusive "Encanto" set owned by Emma. She's Isabela.

She's the 'perfect' sister of Mirabel, who we saw the doll of  from this same set, yesterday.

In the movie, Isabela's gift was that she  could make flowers grow everywhere.

She has flowers in her hair.

As in the movie, the Isabela doll is taller than the Mirabel doll. This doll is about 12 inches tall.

The likenesses to the movie characters are pretty god on these dolls.

Isabela has very long hair.

One of my favourite features of this doll is her hands. I like her fingers.

But the flaw to the hands is that the fingers look webbed. I think the fingers could have been separated a bit.

Or even, quite a bit.

Her long lavender dress has sheer short sleeves, and is decorated with flowers.

As with Mirabel, in the movie Isabela's dress was decorated with embroidery. The flowers were embroidered. Of course, an inexpensive play doll in this day and age isn't going to have embroidery on her dress, but Isabela's dress should also have had flouncy ruffles at the bottom of her short sleeves, and the dress itself should have been layered. The ruffles on the sleeves are too small, and the layering is printed on the dress.

Isabela can move her arms and legs outward, as well as back and forth, and her head can tilt a bit.

There has been another Isabela doll that has a layered dress. But it's still made of this fabric, which isn't nearly flowy enough for Isabela's dress. And the sleeves are the same as this one.

As I said yesterday, I loved the shoes in the movie. Isabela has cute shoes.

They are open in the back for easy  on/off by little hands.

All of the dolls in this set are on a larger scale, in body structure, than standard fashion dolls. That means they can't share clothes with even Curvy Barbie. And their feet and much bigger.

That's the doll for today. See you tomorrow for another doll.
