Doll-A-Day 2023 #46: Small People by Cecily Graduate

Yesterday we saw an unusual larger Small People by Cecily doll, Aunt Ella. Today we're looking at a typical Small People doll.

You can see how much bigger Aunt Ella is.

This doll, like most Small People by Cecily dolls, is about 4 inches tall.

I got this doll when I bought Aunt Ella. I have two Small People dolls, a blonde and a red head. I always called them Emma and Fuzzy. But I didn't have another red haired one to be daughter Ivy. I've wanted to get one for years, but the dolls are hard to find around here, and getting expensive. When I saw this one, Ivy had recently graduated, so, even though she's a blonde, I thought she was sort of fitting, especially since she was my only choice!

She, like Aunt Ella, still has her tag.. You saw it on the Aunt Ella post, since I was having a hard time dragging Aunt Ella's tag out of her dress, but here it is again.

As with all the Small People, this one has Cecily's signature and the date of her 'birth' on the bottom of her foot.

Like all the Small People dolls, she has thread hair.

The only thing that's ever said about what these dolls are made of is that they are a 'special resin mixture' and that they are cast from molds made by Cecily. The 'resin' mixture' was used for the head, hands, and feet, (and the legs about to the knee area.)

She is wearing her graduation robe, but nothing under it but pantaloons.

Like Aunt Ella, this girl has bead 'buttons' on her shoes.

Her graduation cap has a felt base and cardstock top.

This is obviously before her graduation ceremony, because her tassel is on the right. During the graduation it's moved to the left to show you've graduated. And then you throw your hat in the air and the tassel goes who knows where. Ivy refused to throw her hat when she graduated college, because, she said, "I'm not going to throw it and get it all messed up." The students had all been encouraged to 'personalize' their graduation caps. Ivy, who graduated with Bachelor of Arts degrees in film history and theatre, decorated hers with glitter and every word of dialogue from her favourite movie.

That's today's doll. Tomorrow we will see a doll that is NOT a Small People by Cecily doll! See you then.
