Doll-A-Day 2017 #22: Lady Lovely Locks Maiden Golden Wave

Today's doll is this Lady lovely Locks Maiden Golden Wave doll.

Lady Lovely Locks was a line of dolls by Mattel, which ran from 1987 to 1989.

This Maiden Golden Wave doll is from the Enchanted Island wave of dolls, released in 1987.

The dolls in the line all featured long, colourful hair, except for Prince Strongheart.

He did have rooted hair, but it was only neck length.

That's the Prince on the left.
Each doll came with 'Pixietails',small animals with long flowing tails, that could be used as hair clips. Even the Prince came with them.
She doesn't have hers.
Lady Lovely Locks dolls are approximately 8 1/2" tall.

The bodies are marked 'Those Character's from Cleveland'.

Those Characters from Cleveland was the toy design and licensing division of American Greetings, which is based in Cleveland,Ohio. Some of the most popular toys of the 80's, including Strawberry Shortcake, Holly Hobbie,Peppermint Rose, The Get Along Gang,Popples, Care Bears,Madballs, and the Lady Lovely Locks franchises were all licensed by TCFC,as well as the lesser known, but adorbable Hobnobbins.

Loads of things were produced to go along with the Lady Lovely Locks line. Apart from the dolls, there were fashions, pets, playsets, and horses for the dolls, as well as other items featuring the characters. These included books,TV trays, dish sets, puzzles, lunchboxes, and party supplies, and an animated series. You can see the series opening HERE.

If the body and limbs of Lady Lovely Locks look familiar, it could be because the molds were later used for Mattel's Stacie doll, Barbie's little sister, in the 90's and early 2000's.

She suffers from the dreaded 'spotty leg syndrome', which also famously befalls 70's and 80's Barbies.

If you're into Lady Lovely Locks you can visit the unofficial homepage HERE. It has loads of information, photos, and links to the cartoons, etc.I'm not, so fortunately I can let go of another doll. Good for me. I'll clear this place up yet!
  Tomorrow we'll see another doll.
