Doll-A-Day 2017 # 24: Lemon Meringue in Box

I'm a little behind. I just spent a couple of days at the hospital with my best friend,Lori. Lori has some heart issues, but is ok right now and is home again, thank goodness.
  Today's doll is Strawberry Shortcake's friend,Lemon Meringue.

This Lemon Meringue is still in her box.

This doll is one of the original Strawberry Shortcake friends from Kenner.

Her box shows the other dolls.

It's her box, so she gets to be on both sides.
Strawberry Shortcake debuted during Unsentimental Niece's childhood. She had Strawberry Shortcake sheets.

This particular doll belongs to my friend Connie.

The Strawberry Shortcake dolls all had a scent that went with their name.

See you tomorrow for another doll.

  1. My sister wanted Strawberry Shortcake dolls when she was a girl. She did manage to pick up a vintage one for herself on eBay now that she's an adult. I still find the original versions of these girls adorable.

    1. I prefer the Playmates versions, and I have a few of those.I love the faces on them. I also like the tiny Hasbro ones. I have a few of the ones with the changeable rubber dresses.I think either of them are prettier than the originals. They're cute, but I like the fleshtone on the Playmates faces better. But your sister will have grown up with the originals, so I see her point. I'm like that with toys I grew up with too. I think I'm older than you guys. My toy era was the 60's and early 70's.

    2. Yes, my toy era was 70s and very early 80s. It's funny, because my daughter got a bunch of the first Strawberry Shortcake dolls the first time they were re-released (about 15 years ago.) The newer ones aren't "real" Strawberry Shortcake to her; she prefers the ones she played with. I put all of her Strawberry Shortcake in storage; we'll see what her daughter makes of it, if she ever has one.

    3. That's the way though. Your own era is the only 'real' era, even if it's the era you payed with, and not the one that's actually from your time! Wow, you are younger than I am! I was the class of 1980!
