Doll-A-Day 2023 #308:Smiski

Today we're looking at a series of little guys. I've had my eye on these for a while. Fuzz had one, (surely melted now.), and I have seen them on line, but I had never seen any in the wild until a couple of days ago. They're called Smiski.

Smiski are little glow in the dark figures and, according to their official website,
"Smiski are curious little creatures that love hiding in small spaces and corners of your room."

There have been a lot of different series of Smiskis. They are blind box figures that come in packages inside boxes. So even if you tear into the box, you can't see what figure is in there unless you also tear into the package within.

The only series the store actually carried was the 'bath series'.

The store only had the bath series, but they had loads of old displays. And before you say it, I tried to buy the displays, but nobody knew anything about them. Ken even tried to call the next day and talk to the suggested manager, but she wasn't answering her phone. Looks like they've been selling, (or having stolen!), some of the figures in the displays, because according to their website, each series has six figures, and a secret figure that's randomly packed and hard to find, and none of the plexiglass displays had six figures in them.

This is the Living series. Left to right they are Hiding, Lifting, Playing, and Thinking.

This is just called 'series 2'.

This is the Cheer series. Looks like is has three pom pom toting figures.

This is the Dressing series.

This is series 4. Left to right: Relaxing, Scared,  Defeated, Lazy, and Sneaking.

Smiskis are about 3 to 4 inches tall...usually. There was also this big guy, who was a bobble head, and about 5 to 6 inches tall.

The Bath series figures were blue. We did find one of those that wasn't in the display cases, so I got it for Christmas. Or, at least, I will.

The regular size Smiskis were $6.99, which is a bit much for something so small and simple, but compared to online prices, a really good deal! The big bobble head was $20. I think they're so cute. I got really excited when I saw them in an actual store. I wanted to scoop them all up and take them home!

Those are today's dolls. Tomorrow we'll look at another interesting flashback doll.

  1. What an interesting concept. It looks like the characters are teaching children about emotions or body language. Some of the packaging seems to be geared towards English speakers.
