Doll-A-Day 2017 #172:Star Darlings Scarlet Starling

The doll for today is this girl.

I have this one in a box, but I recently found a loose, used one that is mint,so she's the one I'm going to show you.

She's Scarlet Starling.

This is her original outfit, minus the silver belt.

She's from the Star Darlings line by Disney.

The Star Darlings are 'wish granters',and live on a star called Starland.

These rocks look alien, right? They're from Kentucky actually.
According to the Disney Star Darlings site "Starland is the brightest star in the sky, where all wishes go to be taken care of by Wish-Granters until they are ready to be granted. When these wishes are fulfilled, they release Positive Wish Energy that powers all of Starland.

The Wish Granters travel to 'Wishworld',which is Earth, and grant the wishes of wishlings',which are what they call Earthlings.

She's 10 1/2" tall.

The Star Darlings have pretty inset eyes.

Scarlet has cute little freckles too.

Her hair is purple, with a pink streak.

It's fairly soft and combable.

They are articulated at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and knees.

In spite of the articulation, Scarlet is not very posable.

Her arms have some flexibility...

...but her legs aren't very posable at all. Even though she has knee joints she can hardly bend her knees. She can't cross her legs.

The knee joints do allow the legs to swivel at the knees,so she can be pigeon toed or duck footed. But who wants that? Her skirt is so tight that it's hard for her to even sit down. The skirt also makes it impossible for her legs to move out to the sides too, which makes it hard to balance her to make her stand on her own.

I finally managed to get her to stand. It wasn't easy. One leg seems shorter than the other.

Without the skirt she can move her legs out to the sides enough to halfway do splits.

As you can see, she has molded on underwear, with a little bow.

The shirt and skirt are separate, and both close in the back with Velcro.

There is a Star Darlings animated series. You can see the Star Darlings YouTube page HERE.

Tomorrow is another doll.See you then.

  1. I like her, shes almost like a liv doll

    1. MUCH less poseable than a Liv doll though. Her body doesn't have that torso joint and her ankles aren't articulated. The articulation that's there doesn't work as well either.

  2. I want to know how you got her to sit like that at all! My doll spreads her legs out into splits when I try to bend them forward at the hips, so she can sit. Maybe I'll need to work with mine. Or maybe this doll's joints were loosened from play? My doll doesn't stand very well either. I had put some Liv pumps on her feet and couldn't even get her to stand leaning up against a wall very well. I had to put her boots back on.

  3. Well, she wasn't sitting up straight. Maybe that made a difference. She was leaning back. She had been played with enough to make her one knee loose, so that's a possibility too. She was practically impossible to get to stand up!

Thanks in advance for your comments.
