Doll-A-Day 2017 # 126: Shrunken Saturday: Chatty Cathy Ornament

Today's 'doll' is actually a miniature reproduction of a very famous doll. It's this Hallmark Chatty Cathy ornament from 2010.

Hallmark has done some great miniatures of classic toys over the years. They've done the Farmer Says toy,the Little People School House and house, etc. But the only classic 60's doll they've done is Chatty Cathy.

She has a sprinkling of freckles.
Chatty Cathy was produced in various forms for years, beginning in 1959. This doll is a reproduction of the original Chatty Cathy.

She even has a reproduction of Chatty Cathy's cardboard wrist tag.
There were two Chatty Cathy ornaments in the same outfit. This brunette was 2007. In 2010 they sold a blonde.

She has molded clothing except for her real 'lace' pinafore.

The great thing about this ornament is that it actually talks, just like the doll. She has a tiny pull string on her back. Pulling the string activates her talking feature, but it's powered by a button battery.

She has poseable arms.

She's 4" tall. She could live in a dollhouse, or be a Chatty Cathy doll for the appropriate sized doll.

You can see my week of Chatty posts beginning HERE.

Tomorrow we're going to start looking at some great Goodwill finds I've been making lately.
