Doll-A-Day 2017 # 34: Byers Choice Lady

I spent the day today having a movie day with my best friend,Lori. We watched both Independence Day movies.(I preferred the first one.) So I didn't have a lot of time to work on today's doll. This will be an abbreviated post, but we'll be back tomorrow for a nice detailed Shrunken Saturday.
Today's doll is  Byer's Choice lady.
Hey lady, your boa is in your tea cup...

She's holding a cup of tea,(or coffee.Whatever.)

She's your typical looking Byers lady. As with most Byers figures, she doesn't have any feet, just wires that hold her on her stand.

She came with lots of nice accessories. There was a white wicker chair...

...a wooden side table with a cup of milk for Santa...

...and a nice wicker tray of pastries. .(What is this lady doing? Are these her things? Why is she leaving milk and and pastries for Santa? Is she a child in disguise? Is she hoping for gifts from Santa?)...

Byers make some really nice detailed accessories, which are more realistic than their people. There are a couple of fire places, fencing, clocks, and street lamps, that are quite sought after. Even though the Byers people are 12" or more, alot of their accessories, like the fireplaces, are 1/6 scale, and so are great for doll dioramas.

Don't forget to come back tomorrow for Shrunken Saturday.

Doll-A-Day 330: Byers Carolers Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim

Yesterday Emma sent me the pictures I took for the day's doll and they disappeared into my spam folder. I didn't think t look there until she suggested it, so the doll is a day late. better late than never though, so he has been posted. Check him out.
It's Christmas Eve, and today's dolls are these Byers Carolers. It's Bob Cratchit and Tiny Tim.

The Cratchits are, of course, characters from Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol", one of my favourite stories.

Bob is 12" tall, and Tiny Tim is...tiny.

We'll hear more about Charles Dickens tomorrow.

Doll-A-Day 327 : Byers Carolers Salvation Army People

Today's doll is three: these Byers Salvation Army people from 1991.

I really love these Salvation Army characters. Their clothes are nicely detailed, and the props are so realistic.

The lady is about 12" tall, and the guys are about 13 1/2" tall.

The Salvation Army was founded in 1865 by  William and Catherine Booth, and was originally known as the East London Christian Mission.
Catherine and William Booth.
They expanded to Australia, Ireland, and the United States in 1880.They now operate in 126 countries, in 175 languages.

The Salvation Army is one of the largest providers of social aid, helping more then 32 million people in the United States every year. They provide disaster relief, refugee aid, community centers, and other services.

They are the second largest charity in the United States.
See you tomorrow for another doll in our countdown to Christmas.

Doll-A-Day 310: Byers Boy on Sled

Ok, so maybe Byers Carolers don't count as dolls. I think they do. And who could resist wanting to play with this little guy?

He's a Byers 'figure'.He may be a Kindle. I'm not sure. I love his cozy snowsuit.

And his cheeks are all red from the cold while he's been out sledding...

...with his dog.

I don't like that his hair is real hair, probably rabbit hair. Our bunny Jerome doesn't approve either!
"Stop! I don't want to know about it!"
He's a small figure, not nearly as large as the Byers Carolers, but then, he's just a little boy.

See you tomorrow for another Decembery doll.
