Doll-A-Day 2019 #302: Days of Double Happiness

Today's doll is another I photographed from the tubs of sale dolls the other week. She's very pretty, but just not the type of doll I collect. She's this pretty lady.

She's 18 inches tall. Her arms are wired for posability.
She's called Days of Double Happiness.

She's from Ashton Drake. She was designed by Judy Belle.

She's porcelain, but I think she has a cloth body. Her wedding ring is painted on her hand.

Look at her delicately painted finger nails.
Her wedding dress is really pretty, with lots of lace and sequins.

Apparently this isn't her bouquet! Her bouquet is made up of red flowers and has a 'double happiness' charm hanging from it.

That's today's doll. I have to get up early tomorrow and make some meringues for Emma's house warming party. It's also a party to play the latest Homestar Runner game, (thus the name of the party, the 'Homestarty'),and the meringues are supposed to look like Strong Sad.

I'll show you if they turn out well!
See you tomorrow for another doll.

Doll-A-Day 2019 #274: Welcome Home Emily by Ashton Drake

Sorry yesterday's post was late. I had it all done and planned to publish it Monday morning when I was on to message Ivy that we were setting off for Indiana. But of course,I forgot! I have been so tired since we got back from vacation,(I lie. Since we were on vacation.), that I don't know if I'm coming or going. Well I was going, but I forgot to post the post!
We decided to stay overnight in Indiana and have breakfast with Ivy today. So there was lot of driving and I'm pooped again. So I am putting off that vacation post again, and we are going with another of Norma's,(now Lori's) dolls. She's this baby.

She's Welcome Home Emily,a So Truly Real doll.

She was made by Ashton Drake and designed by Linda Webb.

She measures about 21 inches long. This is her original pink knitted outfit. She also originally came with a white blanket.

She  has thin newborn baby hair.

Her nails are painted to resemble real finger nails. Or maybe she's just had a French manicure.

She has glued on false eyelashes, which are coming off. I kept sticking the left one back on while I was photographing her.

Personally,I don't like closed eyed baby dolls. I think they look dead, and it creeps me out.

That's it for today. See you again tomorrow. I'm going to sleep!

Little Red Riding Hood and the Latest on My Thyroid

I'm so behind with things! I said I'd show you some of my Goodwill finds from weeks ago. Here's one of them. This is Little Red Riding Hood.

She was sold by Ashton Drake in 1988.

She was sculpted by Dianna Effner, one of my favourite doll artists.

She has one of those typical sweet Effner children's faces.

This girl was at my favourite Goodwill. She's made of porcelain, with glass eyes.

I prefer vinyl, but I'll make an exception for her.
Her limbs have a wire armature,so they can be posed.

She has great curly hair that's still in good condition.

I think her hood can really go up on her head, but with her hair in such good shape I didn't think I'd risk anything!

She's 14" tall.

She should have a basket with a loaf of bread in it. Her clothes are all there though, including bloomers, undershirt, dress with built in slip and apron, stockings, cape, and shoes.

There is a problem with her shoes!

I could fix them, but it doesn't show,so I may not bother. The white bits of her clothing are browned, but I can get rid of that with some Stain Devils. (I really should do a commercial for them!)

I had my thyroid ultrasound on Monday. You know, the ultrasound my doctor didn't think was necessary because he said, "If you had a goiter I could see it." (A goiter is an enlarged thyroid.) I had to really keep stressing that I was still having trouble swallowing and "there's something going on in my neck!" I pressed for it, and he finally agreed to write an order for one. So,I had it, and guess what:I have a goiter! And not just a goiter, but one with 'multiple nodules'! So now he is sending me to...are you reading this Barb? ...an endocrinologist! After he insisted I couldn't have a goiter! They said they might have to biopsy my nodules. Ack! How do they do that?! Is there a cut involved??!!
My appointment isn't until the 17th of April! I'm still having trouble even with the 2 extra half pills a week,so I hope I do ok until the appointment.I have been feeling pretty bad the day before I add the half pill,as if I've run out of medicine and it really helps when I take more. My heart has been getting fluttery again and some days my throat really feels like I'm being choked. I'll let you know what happens.

Doll-A-Day 2017 #253:Ashton Drake Goldilocks by Dianna Effner

As you learned if you read the Shrunken Saturday post I just posted, yesterday I went with the girls and Fuzzy's girlfriend Shanna to a sunflower field.
Emma, Ivy, and Shanna at the sunflower field.

I thought it might be a great place to photograph a doll, so I took one with me that I thought would suit the colour scheme.

It was all blue sky and sunflowers as far as the eye could see.

So here's the doll.Even her name suits the place. She's Goldilocks by Ashton Drake.

She was from a series of Ashton Drake dolls called Storybook Sweethearts.

She was produced in 2010.

She's a Dianna Effner sculpt. Diana Effner is one of my favourite doll artists.

You may have previously seen my Maru and Friends Maru,my Maru and Friends Mini Pal Chad,my Ashton Drake Alice, and my Ultimate Collection vinyl Willow.

Goldie was a perfect choice for the sunflowers. I was thinking of saving her for falling leaves, but she is much sunnier than that.

I had to take a few extra pictures today, and my yard was sunny, but just not the same without the sunflowers..

She has great curly hair.

Her eyes are painted.

This is her original outfit.

It consists of a dress, jacket, leggings, boots, purse, and knitted cap.

She has faux suede boots with 'fur' trim

Her leggings only come just below her boot tops.

Her purse, decorated with The Three Bears, opens and can store things. It closes with a snap.

Her knitted cap has a hole in the top.

She has the same body as my Ashton Drake Alice, with 11 points of articulation, including neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and knees. In spite of that, she's still not very posable. Her arms don't bend very far. She can't touch her head or her face. Her legs work a lot better.

Her head can tilt side to side and up and down.

She could have had much better articulation, but what she has is better than the articulation on more expensive Effner dolls like the Little Darlings or Heartstrings dolls. Of course, she doesn't have the magnificent paint job either, but on the other hand, she is much less expensive!

That's our doll for today. See you again tomorrow.
