Doll-A-Day 2023 #176: GMFGI 1976 Doll

Today's doll came from a nice, dry box in the room of water. The room seems pretty dry now, but Ken has taken most of the stuff out of it, so the floor has had a chance to dry. Anyway, she's a mystery girl to me. If any of you recognize her, let me know.

The poor girl. It wasn't bad enough that she has green spot disease, but while I was trying to take her picture, she fell over into what turned out to be a nice patch of poison ivy. After that, I was afraid to touch her! She's social distancing in the recycle tub at the moment. How long until she's safe again? (Apparently it's possibly years, unless she's washed. I'm not sure she's worth it with all her Martian spots.)

She is about 18 inches tall.

Her body kind of reminds me of the Ideal Crissy dolls. but she isn't part of that crowd, as far as I know.

She has blue sleep eyes with 'real' lashes.

Her only markings are 'GMFGI 1976' in the back of her head. It stands for General Mills Fun Group Inc. yes, General Mills, like the cereal. That's not all they make.

The dress she's wearing is not her own. It's way too bog for her.

I had to take these pictures with my phone, because we finally got a rubber lid grip and Ken tried to remove the cracked lens on my camera...and broke the whole lens even worse that it was already. So now I have to use my phone. I have to get a new lens before Emma's wedding in September. Until I do, it's phone or nothing.

That's today's doll. See you tomorrow.

Doll-A-Day 264: Weird Rubber Baby

Today's doll is another mystery naked kid. (Sorry!)

He's unmarked, so I have no idea who this kid is, so if anybody knows, please leave a comment.

This baby is about 14 inches tall. There's a squeaker in his back that works when you squeeze his head.(Ouch!)

He has sleep eyes, with hard plastic lashes.

Those are some intense eyes!

Scary!
 The mouth is interesting.

There's detail in his molded and painted hair.

This guy's body is made of rubber. He's sort of in a sitting position.

But he can't really sit down.

Maybe if he sat on the edge of something?

No. That doesn't really work either. He could barely stay upright.
That's today's doll. See you tomorrow for another one,and I promise it will be wearing clothes!

Doll-A-Day 2019 #261: American Character Baby Sue

Today I apologize for the nakedness!

She has a strange darkness around her eyes. I think she looks a little scary. Maybe it would scrub off,but it didn't clean off with spray cleaner and a paper towel.

She's Baby Sue and she was made by American Character in 1957.

Her eyes are sleep eyes.

She's not exactly Magic Skin, because I always think of that as being quite thin. Her body and legs are a thick rubber.

But her arms are jointed, and made of vinyl or plastic. Because of the rubber torso, the arms are hard to move.

She's about 17 inches tall.

There's squeaker in her back.

That's the doll for today. See you tomorrow!

Doll-A-Day 2019 #250: Eegee Doll

Today's doll is this young lady.

Actually, she's not young. She's probably from the 60's or maybe early 70's. I don't know her name, so if anybody can identify her,I'd appreciate it.

She looks a bit shy.

She's an Eegee doll.

Does that say 1967?
This isn't her original dress. It's homemade,(not by me!).

She stands about 17 inches tall.

She has the standard articulation,at the neck, shoulders, and hips.

Like yesterday's doll, she has big brown eyes...

...and they're sleep eyes with 'real' lashes.

In fact, there's more of a similarity between them than just the eyes. They have almost the same head!

I mean almost exactly the same head.

The differences seem to be that today's doll doesn't have eyes that tilt up as much at the outside corners. Other than that the small differences are the eyebrows, lip colour, and yesterday's doll had blue eye shadow. The sculpt is so similar. So what is the connection between Eegee,(today's doll),and Uneeda,(yesterday's doll)?
Like yesterday's doll, she is a leftover from an auction or something. In fact, they probably came together. They are like sisters. The taller one is obviously older and old enough to wear makeup.

That's the doll for today. Tomorrow we'll see a doll who doesn't look like these two!

Doll-A-Day 2019 #249: Uneeda Doll

  Today's doll is this girl.

She's a Uneeda doll.

She was produced in 1967.

She measures 18 inches tall.

I don't know if you can see it, but she has quite a bit of blue eye shadow.

She's plastic with a vinyl head.

Something that's nice about her is that she has big dark brown eyes. Most dolls like this have blue eyes.

She has sleep eyes with 'real' lashes.

I think her dress is homemade, but I'm not sure.

She has the typical articulation of dolls like this, and is jointed at the neck, shoulders, and hips.

She was a leftover from an auction lot,but she hasn't found a new home yet.

That's the doll for today.

Tomorrow we'll look at a doll that could be her long lost sister..cousin? She looks a lot like her,but she's made by someone else.
