Doll-A-Day 2023 #287: Fashionistas #192

I saw this guy at Five Below yesterday. He was tempting.

Officially he's Fashionistas #192.

Unofficially he's probably known as the guy with vitiligo.

Vitiligo is an autoimmune disorder that causes the loss of pigment in patches of skin anywhere on the body.

There have been two other Fashionistas with vitiligo, but they were both female. You might have seen Emma's #135 HERE.

Note that in the first picture, to the left you see that they also carry The World's Smallest toys, and at the moment ours has the 1977 Barbie case. Just a few comments about it. For one thing, I love the case. It's slightly big for 1/6 scale, but I can live with that. Second thing: the doll that comes with it is WAY too small for the case! What?! As if that weren't enough, #3, she's totally the wrong doll for the case, and even the wrong decade! She's a 90's Barbie, with long crimped hair. You can see her on the right of the case in the package. I can't remember the name right now, but I know that doll came out when Emma was little, and Emma was born in 1991. So I'd take the case, and the doll, but not together. As for #192, I like him. I think if you want him you should snap him up while Five Below has him for $5.

And I still haven't seen The Barbie Movie! I saw it for sale on DVD yesterday. For sale already?! Things move fast these days! It used to take at least a year for something to make it t video. I'm old.

That's today's doll. We're going to the house to work tomorrow, and we should be getting windows put in soon. (Yay!) See you tomorrow for some other doll, even if I haven't decided which one yet!

Doll-A-Day 2023 #133: Fashionista Barbie 135

Todays doll is one of Emma's. She's Barbie Fashionista #135.

She was produced in 2020.

The thing about this doll, who is one of the Petite Barbie's, is her interesting complexion.

She represents people who have a skin condition called vitiligo. The internet says, "Vitiligo occurs when pigment-producing cells die or stop functioning. Loss of skin color can affect any part of the body, including the mouth, hair, and eyes. It may be more noticeable in people with darker skin."

And

"Melanin is produced by skin cells called melanocytes, and it gives your skin its colour. In vitiligo, there are not enough working melanocytes to produce enough melanin in your skin."

You may have seen Winnie Harlow, a famous model who has vitiligo.

This girl has curly hair painted along her hairline.

And she has great curly hair.

Her colourful long dress is accompanied by a bag on a belt at her waist.

And a pair of white tennis shoes.

I love these shoes. They're so cute.

There was also a curvy Barbie, and a Ken with vitiligo. I have never seen those two myself, except online. The doll we're looking at today was the only doll with vitiligo that I saw in the stores.

That's it for today. See you tomorrow.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #59: Fashionista #91

Today's doll is one Emma bought at the doll show. One of us was going to buy her for sure, and Emma had more money. (And is living in her own house, so she doesn't have to worry about being frowned upon for bringing too much stuff into it, like I do.) She's Fashionista #91, from the Barbie Fashionistas line.

She's wearing her original clothes, but she also came with a white bracelet, and white shoes.
She is made to resemble an African American woman with Albinism, so she has quite a fair skin tone and blue eyes.

And freckles.

She also has a fabulous head of white hair.

She has the Petite body type, so she's a little shorter than the standard Barbie.

She has unbendable legs, but she can move her arms out from her sides, as well as back and forth.

She can also tilt her head up and down, and sideways a little bit..

This doll came out in 2017, so it was lucky finding her in her original outfit, or even at all, for $4.

That's today's doll. See you again tomorrow.

Doll-A-Day 2017 #205:Petite Fashionista Kitty Cute

I have had my eye on a few of the specialised Fashionists for a while now. When my car over heated yesterday and I had to go to Walmart and buy coolant,I found that almost all of the Fashionistas were clearanced to $5. There was only one of one of my favourites, so I decided to nab it. She's today's doll  of the day.

She one of the Petite girls.

She's called Kitty Cute.

She's also alias #47.

They also had #51,which I was tempted on,and another that's been a favourite of mine for a while...
But they had loads of her and only one of the red haired girl,so I bought red haired girl and hope they'll still have this girl later.

She caught my eye originally because #1.She has red hair.

Something I didn't realize because it isn't obvious in the box,she has two different shades of red hair. That's realistic. I've often said I never had two hairs the same shade on my head. Ivy has the same thing going on with her hair.

 #2.She has brown eyes!

She has a funny thing going on with her mouth. She kind of looks like she has an underbite.

I don't care what you may have read, brown is not the most prevalent eye colour for red heads.

Red hair, fair skin, and blue eyes are all caused by a higher concentration of the pigment pheomelanin, and less of the dark pigment eumelanin. If you want to read more about that you can check out my Red Heads Week posts, specifically THIS ONE.

Also, there was a #3. She was petite. Other than her freckles, which I don't have, she represented the young me!

I'm 5' tall, red hair, brown eyes.Of course, she doesn't represent the currant me. That would take at least 2 or 3 Petites, and maybe a couple of Curvies!
Kitty Cute gets her name from the cute kitten shirt she's wearing.

I was disappointed to find that her shirt and skirt are all one piece. I would have liked to have stolen her shirt for Tammy World.

It closes in the back with Velcro.

She also has a 'denim' vest. It's completely printed:all the buttons, pockets, even the denim itself.

She has cute shoes.

She's wearing what we used to call a toboggan. Nowdays it's called a beanie.

I've said it before,THIS is a beanie!

I would have preferred a real knitted cap,or at the least, a cloth of some sort. But I suppose the plastic hat is cheaper to make, thus keeps the price down. I thought it was going to be rubber , and sort of soft, but it's hard plastic.

She was fairly easy to remove from her packaging, but the hard part was cutting the plastic ties holding her hat on. They were so tight I couldn't get the scissors under them to cut them! In the end I had to just tear it off. I'm not sure if that stretched the holes in the hat or not, but a couple of them looked pretty big once I got it off.

She has one bent am and one straight arm.

"Yodel-ay-ee-hoo!"

Her legs are hard plastic and don't bend.

She's 10" tall. I've considered this before, and I think she has the current Skipper body, only with hard plastic legs.

If I had the money I might rebody her onto a Made to Move body. Of course, then she wouldn't be Petite any more.

See you again tomorrow.
