Doll-A-Day 2019 #141: Happy Family Nikki Toddler

  Today's doll is this little kid.

She's Nikki.

Nikki is the daughter of Barbie's friends Midge and Allen.

That makes Nikki a member of the Happy Family, which is what the Midge line was called at the point where Mattel was concentrating on Midge as a family woman. These days her family has been forgotten about, like Chuck Cunningham on "Happy Days".

I posted about a different Nikki HERE. That Nikki was made with a cookie as part of one hand, and a magnet in the other hand to hold a carton of milk,and her face had painted cookie mess all over it. This Nikki is a clean faced girl with regular hands.

She has some painted detail in the front of her hair,as well as molded detail and two rooted ponytails.

Her dress is an actual Nikki dress, but I'm not sure if it came as a dress, or came on a Nikki doll.

Doll-A-Day 2017 #70:Shrunken Saturday:Happy Family Newborn/Unborn Baby

    First of all,I have to apologize for a couple of posts that were nothing but place holding titles getting published by accident yesterday. My computer keeps doing weird things, and that's not the first time lately it has done that. If you can hang out here long enough I promise those titles will become real posts soon! In the mean time we are still looking at babies. Today we're looking at this the Happy Family baby.

This baby is the same basic doll as the Happy Family baby that came with the pregnant Midge doll, (The Caucasian baby was pink, and I think the African American baby was darker that this baby, which is a medium brown. I'm not sure if there was an Hispanic set. If so, this may be the baby used in that set.), the 'Shopping Fun Midge,Nikki', and new baby set,and the 'Happy Family Baby Doctor Barbie' set. The Happy Family Baby Doctor set came with Barbie and two babies in isolettes.

The baby measures 1 3/4" long.

He/she has a jointed neck,arms,and legs. Partly, this was so the baby could be folded up into sort of a fetal position, and fit in the pregnent Midge detachable belly.
You can see why this was the newborn baby for Midge.It's super tiny.

It's so small, I don't think they even tried to make any clothes for it besides a hat. (There might have been a shirt in one set.) It just has a painted on diaper and a blanket.

It's a cute little baby though, and so tiny it could be used as a 1/12 scale dollhouse baby.

You can see in this picture the neck joint that allows the baby to not only turn it's head,but nod it up and down a little.

Doll-A-Day 2017 #65:Happy Family Neighborhood Shopping Fun Nikki

  Yesterday we saw the kids form the Teacher Barbie set. Whiile we're on the subject of babies and children,let's keep going. Today we're looking at Nikki, from the Happy Family Neighborhood Midge,Nikki, and Baby set.

She is not in her original dress.Her hair is still in it's original two ponytails and curly clump of bangs.

This Nikki,Midge's daughter, came in a set with Midge, the new baby,a shopping cart, and a grocery store set.

Her left hand has a magnet for holding her carton of milk.

Her right hand is molded holding a cookie.

There's a bite out of the cookie, and the fact that Nikki has been eating it shows on her face.

 She has pink cookie icing smears all over her mouth.(Plus she seems to have some lip scrapes.)

This is the edition of Midge that came with the set.(She's been redressed.)

Nikki measures 3 1/2" tall.
