Doll-A-Day 2023 #335: Prince Tommy

We're getting caught up by the end of the year, I swear! Today's extra post is Prince Tommy.

I think he's from the same series as the Jester Jenny we saw yesterday. He's from 1999.

So he's just pretending to be a Prince.

Unlike the picture on the box, he didn't come with a crown. I'm pretty sure Fuzz had this one, and no crown.

He does have a cape that's a separate piece though.

What a cute little face. I always wished they had made a red haired Tommy. It would have made creating Fuzzy the Doll a lot easier, for one thing!

He also has his tunic, pants, and black boots. He came with a poster that showed all the Kelly and Tommy dolls.

That's it. Also check out today's regular post, #334, and day one of Twelve Days of Tammy World.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #333: Jester Jenny

  Today's doll is Jester Jenny.

She's a Kelly Club doll, from 1999, back when a poster of all the dolls available was included in the box. Jenny's bio is included on the back of the box.

Jenny is wearing a pink and gold jester suit, with a pink collar, pink tassel loafers, and a velvety pink jester hat.

Jenny was a Kelly friend. The smaller Jenny has dark hair, but the large 16 plush 'Cuddly Soft' Jenny Kelly friend was a red head. They're both cute.

That's it for today. See you tomorrow for another doll.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #332: Fred Flintstone

 Today's doll is Fred Flintstone.

Fred was one of a series of four dolls. The dolls were 'played' by Tommy and Kelly.

They were play line dolls, released in 2003. Fred wears the typical Fred Flintstones outfit.

But he has the cute Tommy face.

He also has a cow lick, ala' Alfalfa from Little Rascals/Our Gang.

And like Fred always is, he's barefoot.

As for Pebbles and Bamm Bamm, they were released as Tommy/Kelly dolls too. (Or, should I say, Kelly and Tommy were Pebbles and Bamm Bamm.) Those dolls were released as part of the Barbie 'Silver Label' line. They were more considered collector dolls, and were more expensive. Consequently, they still sell for more than the adults.
That's the doll for #332. Stayed tuned for more!

Doll-A-Day 2023 #325: Kelly as Lullaby Munchkin

I would have sworn I posted this doll before, when I did a load of Ivy's Wizard of Oz dolls, (See those posts HERE, HERE, HERE, and the Dorothy doll to go with them HERE.) But I can't find her amongst my posts, so I must not have. So today, here she is. She's Kelly as Lullaby Munchkin.

"The Wizard of Oz" scene with the Lullaby League happens when Dorothy is being welcomed to Munchkin Land, (with a fa la la la la...). There are three members of the Lullaby League, all wearing pink ballet outfits and toe shoes. Their pink outfits are shiny like this one though.
There were three dolls in the series this girl is from. The other two wear the Lollipop Guild Munchkin, and the Munchkin Mayor. You can see both of those in more detail by following the links to Ivy's Wizard of Oz dolls above. The series was made in 2007.

She is a pretty little doll. She looks good as a regular kid if you remove the Munchkin costume and out her in regular clothes.

Ivy, Emma, and I all have one of these dolls. She was popular around our house.

She got a little wet in the Room of Water. She was in a box full of boxed Kelly and Tommy dolls, and several of them got a little mildew on their boxes. All survived okay in the end though. Lullaby's box plastic is just a little  dirty now. I should have cleaned it off, but I have a lot going on right now. It's Christmas time, and we're trying to prepare to get back in our house.

That's today's doll. See you tomorrow!

Doll-A-Day 2023 #322: Holiday Angel Deirdre

Okay. Yesterday's doll was pretty creepy. Nothing evil today! Today we're feeling Christmassy. The doll for today is Holiday Angel Deidre.

Not only is she a dolls, she's a tree ornament, as it says on her box.

Although she's Deirdre, it says Kelly above her head. That's because she was a Kelly friend. The dolls were made in 2004. The series was holiday themed, and also included Holiday Party Kelly, Winter Treat Becky, and Mistletoe Kisses Tommy. Ivy had Becky.

Fuzz, who had just about every Tommy, had Mistletoe Kisses Tommy, but I had to remove the kiss from his face with nail polish remover.

Deirdre has a sweet Kelly doll face, and a halo.

I love her big brown eyes.

Her costume was a purple and white angel robe, with wings.

As I recall, the dolls' outfits had ribbons on them to hang the dolls by.

This doll survived the drenching of the Room of Water, but she was in a cardboard box, which got wet. As a consequence her box got a bit mildewy. She was saved in the nick of time. Her box is even okay.

That's the doll for today. See you again tomorrow.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #121: Ringmaster Tommy

Well, Emma was home, but she went back in the hospital last night. She was still having a lot of pain. She's a bit better tonight. They gave her antibiotics and IV fluids all day, and her pain s less. Of course, they gave her pain medication too, but even when it ran out, she was still having less pain. She may come home tomorrow. We'll have to see.

I spent the day with Emma at the hospital, so today's doll is sort of abbreviated. He's Ringmaster Tommy.

This Tommy was produced when there was still the 'Kelly Club' logo on the boxes.

Tommy was supposed to be Ken's brother, and friend of Barbie's sister Kelly. He always had the bowl haircut, unless he was the African American Tommy. That Tommy had cute curly hair. I love them both.

He's wearing a ringmaster suit, but no top hat.

But he does have his megaphone.

And he is wearing the standard Kelly/Tommy boots, in black.

I'm sure we had Ringmaster Tommy at our house, as Fuzz had most of the Tommys. Ringmaster Tommy was made in 2000, so Fuzz would have been five years old.

That's today's doll. Tomorrow we'll check on Emma and if she's okay, later we'll go to surprise my sister with a cake, as it's her last day of work. She's retiring.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #114: Kelly as Little Red Riding Hood

Today's doll is a boxed set: Kelly as Little Red Riding Hood.

This is one of those collector's sets featuring Barbie's little sister, Kelly. It was fourth in the Storybook Favourites series, which also included Raggedy Ann and Andy, Goldilocks, and Hansel and Gretel, This set was produced in 2001.

The back of the box gives a kindler, gentler version of Little Red Riding Hood than the one I grew up with. In this version, Grama was just hiding in the pantry, and comes out when a huntsman scares the wolf away. In the version we had as kids, the wolf eats Grama, and a woodcutter ends up cutting the wolf open with his axe and Grama is found whole and sound inside the wolf's stomach!

Kelly  as Red wears a pretty dress, with attached apron, and her signature red hooded cape....

...while the Wolf wear Grama's  night cap and glasses!

This wolf could barely get Red in it's stomach, let alone Grama.

Red has her basket of apples. In the story I know, she has a jar of jelly and some bread for Grama.

The elastic that held it to her hand has finally given up.

Red's cape has a hook and eye closure, but is stitched together anyway.

The Kelly dolls in the collector sets like this seemed to have more realistic hair than the play line dolls. It's not crazy long, and not as terribly thick as the play line's.

That's the doll for today. See you again tomorrow.

Doll-A-Day 2019 #353: Kelly as "Lucy Gets a Paris Gown" Plus Ethel

Yesterday I spent the day helping our middle child move back in. So I totally missed the daylight for photographing a doll. It was ok though, because I was able to go with  two more of Ivy's dolls. Everything was going swimmingly until the page crashed THREE times, followed by my ability to type words completely disappearing. Eventually, really late last night, I had to just give up posting a doll. So this is yesterday's post. It's these ladies.

The TV is a Christmas ornament by Carleton Cards, from several years ago. The screen lights up and dialog from 'I Love Lucy' plays. What's missing from the left side of the screen is a plastic magazine. It made the Tv look less realistic,so I think we broke it off. The TV is Ivy's too.
Obviously these are Kelly dolls. What might not be as obvious is what they're imitating. They're portraying Lucy and Ethel from the "I Love Lucy" Episode called, "Lucy Gets a Paris Gown.

They have the usual Kelly faces and  Lucy and Ethel make-up and hair.

Lucy has big hair under that hat.

They were another Barbie Pink Label set, made in 2008.

The episode centered around Lucy's desire for a real designed Paris gown, and Ricky's insistence that he was NOT going to buy her one. After Lucy fakes a hunger strike,(aided by Ethel). Ricky and Fred   decide to get back at Lucy and Ethel by making them fake designed gowns out of burlap sacks, and hats out of a feedbag,(Lucy),and an empty champagne bucket,(Ethel). Their plan sort of backfires when the ladies proudly wear what they think are designer outfits. They are humiliated when Fred and Ricky tell them what the dresses are really made of. The next day the group see loads of women all wearing replicas of the fake designer outfits. The Kelly dolls are wearing reproduction outfits, but they are quite a bit longer than the originals.

The dresses are pretty good recreations as far as the style though.

Ethel's dress was supposed to have the unraveled sleeves too.

Lucy's dress has a huge bubble butt.
Lucy's dress has what is supposed to be broaches,I think.

Lucy has her feed bag hat.

Ethel's champagne bucket hat is plastic, with a black chin strap.

They both have painted on gloves.

They're arms are jointed differently though. Lucy's can move up and down and out to the sides.

She can do the 'Stop in the Name of Love' pose.
Ethel has Jazz Hands, but they can't go out to her sides as much.

But she can also do 'Stop in the Name of Love'.

Finally! Here is yesterday's post! Today's post will come later. today.
