Ok. Everybody got all that? Then let's move on to today's doll. She's this kid.

This doll is from the Stroll 'N Play Barbie and Krissy set from 2001. She's not Barbie's sister Krissy though. The set included a Barbie and two babies. One baby was Krissy, and the other was this baby. The poor kid never had a name.

She's wearing the Krissy dress.

She still has her yellow ribbon headband on though.

The Krissy babies are strung, not jointed (except for the head).

The set came with a double stroller.

The seats could be removed to be used as baby carriers, and the bar across the front could be turned into a play gym.

The handle can be moved.

Ivy has this set,but at the moment I'm using a spare baby of mine. I have that play gym somewhere, but right now all I can show you are the toys that attach to it.

You can watch a commercial for the Stroll 'N Play set HERE.  I helped Lori pack up her kitchen for her move to Georgia today. Her house has really sold this time, and she got a great deal on a house with 10 acres, and loads of out buildings,a dog kennel, and an 18 stall barn with two tack rooms and two feed rooms. So she is definitely moving this time. I'm going down with her when she moves to stay for a few days and get the house all sorted out and out together. I'm sure I'll cry all the way back.
For the last couple of years we've been talking about her trimming my hair, so today we decided we'd better get to it. My hair was in bad shape from not being trimmed in ages, so she had to take loads off. We kept joking about how bad it was because the last time it was this short was in 1985,when I had it cut and permed in York. The girl kept apologizing for having to cut so much off by continually saying,"But it's very damaged, in't it?" (That's not a misspelling. It was York,England and that's a common way to say 'isn't' there.) So my hair is barely below my shoulders and it feels really weird!
See you tomorrow for another doll.

Doll-A-Day 2017 #74:Barbie and Krissy Bedtime Baby Set

I spent the day having my birthday shopping trip, since I didn't fit that in last week. I'll be showing you the goodies I found soon. In the meantime, today I'm showing you one of the sets I mentioned yesterday. It's the Barbie and Krissy set, Bedtime Baby, made in 2000..

I got a whole box of these sets at an auction. They were all complete, and unplayed with, and stored in big ziplock bags.

This set includes Barbie and Krissy, along with a crib and baby accessories.

A very pretty Barbie in cozy looking clothes.

Aw! Cute shirt.
And a cute little Krissy too. (Please ignore the nasty brown tape residue on the bed.)
The crib has a side that can go up and down and a removable mobile that can spin, and a sheer, star covered...uhh...covering? Canopy?  (And the stars glow in the dark! ) I'm pretty sure they used this fabric on a Barbie bed too.

The accessories include a blanket...

...baby bottle, baby powder,baby lotion, a pacifier,and...

What's that thing? I didn't get that.(guess this set's not complete...or mint either. It has developed brown spots on some things.)

Turns out, that last thing is an attachment that clips to Barbie's arm, and into Krissy's back.

It's supposed to let 'you and Barbie rock Krissy',by moving the switch on Barbie's back.

Krissy can also be attached to a bar in her bed the same way.

And by moving the switch on the foot of the crib she can be made to move.

And the crib also uses batteries and plays music when Krissy's crib switch is used.

The battery door is under the crib.

You can watch the commercial for this set HERE.
And a few more pictures of this photogenic pair:

See you tomorrow!

Doll-A-Day 2017 #71: Barbie's Baby Sister Krissy

 Today we're having a look at Barbie's littlest sibling,Krissy.

Krissy was first produced in 1999,the same year as my youngest, Ivy. In fact, the Krissy set 'Baby Layette' was Emma's gift when Ivy was born, and she named her Krissy 'Ivy the Doll',(To go with her 'Emma the Doll' and Fuzzy's 'Fuzzy the Doll'.).

Ivy was obsessed with Krissy from a very young age.(This was before she latched on to her even bigger obsession, Kelly.)

Krissy can turn her head, and her arms and legs are strung, so she has some flexibility. Unfortunately, sometimes the stringing becomes loose, and she gets Dangly Limb Syndrome!

Krissy was discontinued in 2001.Ivy was a bit young for such tiny toys, but as with her siblings, I was always there, and she played with things beyond her age recommendation. I don't recommend that in general, but I think some age recommendations can be disregarded with supervision, and taking the child into consideration: how they play, how mature they are despite their age,(Do they still put toys in their mouths, etc.) and their intellect. Anyway, Ivy had just about all the Krissy playsets that included a Krissy doll: Baby Layette, Scrub-A-Dub-Dub, and Swing 'N Play, as well as the Barbie and Krissy set, Barbie and Krissy Stroll 'N Play. I'm not sure if one of them had the sets Barbie and Krissy Bedtime Baby and Walking Barbie with Baby Sister Krissy. I know the bits have been around the house for years, but I'm not sure which of us had them, or if they were new or second hand. Other sets were Barbie and Krissy Magical Mermaids, and Barbie and Krissy Princess Palace. There were also some playsets that didn't come with a doll, the Barbie Nap 'N Play Nursery, Krissy Playroom Playset and Baby Krissy Home Nursery.

This is the outfit from the Bedtime Baby set.
The Krissy sets came with so many cute little accessories. There were some really great detailed baby toys.
The Stroll 'N Play set came with two dolls. In the Caucasian set the second doll was a light brown skin tone. Below is the African American Krissy, and in the comparison with three dolls you can see all three skin tones.

This is not a Krissy outfit. I think it's Happy Family Nikki.

All three skin tones, light brown, pink, and dark. The first doll has damage to her head, but she's the only example of this skin tone I have.
As our model Midge shows us, Krissy, at 2 3/4" long, was a really nice size for a 1/6 scale baby.

And here's that size comparison again:

Chelsea size, Kelly size, Teacher Barbie kid, Happy Family Nikki, Krissy, Mattel baby marked 1973, Mattel baby marked China, Happy Family newborn baby

Come back and see which baby we're looking at tomorrow.
