Doll-a-Day 2023 #341: Fail Fix Doll by DanceStylz

Today's doll is a mystery to me. She kind of looks like the Fresh Dolls, but I'm not sure who she is.

****UPDATE**** Everybody except me knew this was a Fail Fix doll! I saw the Fail Fix dolls in the store when they came out. I guess they just didn't make an impression on me. The theme was a doll with a lot of problems with their appearance, and you were supposed to give them a makeover. This girl needs another makeover, because that hair looks pretty knotted!

She has a cute face, with inset eyes and three dimensional molded eyelashes.

She's marked 'Moose China'.

She has molded on undies.

She's wearing a football jersey that says '98 Grl Pwr'.

As you can see she has jointed wrists.

She has high top tennis shoes that are split up the back for easy on and off. She doesn't have jointed ankles though.

I think these are her hair di dads. They match her outfit.

She has a lot of hair, in tiny braids. She's pretty articulated, and can pose well. Her head doesn't tilt at all, but she's jointed at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, and knees.

So she can sit  very well.

Those eyes are interesting. I've never seen any like them before.

Looks like she had earrings.

She's about 10 inches tall.

I'm not sure if her hair is supposed to be up like that or not. It looks like I might make a mess of it if I took it down.

That's today's doll. See you again tomorrow.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #322: Holiday Angel Deirdre

Okay. Yesterday's doll was pretty creepy. Nothing evil today! Today we're feeling Christmassy. The doll for today is Holiday Angel Deidre.

Not only is she a dolls, she's a tree ornament, as it says on her box.

Although she's Deirdre, it says Kelly above her head. That's because she was a Kelly friend. The dolls were made in 2004. The series was holiday themed, and also included Holiday Party Kelly, Winter Treat Becky, and Mistletoe Kisses Tommy. Ivy had Becky.

Fuzz, who had just about every Tommy, had Mistletoe Kisses Tommy, but I had to remove the kiss from his face with nail polish remover.

Deirdre has a sweet Kelly doll face, and a halo.

I love her big brown eyes.

Her costume was a purple and white angel robe, with wings.

As I recall, the dolls' outfits had ribbons on them to hang the dolls by.

This doll survived the drenching of the Room of Water, but she was in a cardboard box, which got wet. As a consequence her box got a bit mildewy. She was saved in the nick of time. Her box is even okay.

That's the doll for today. See you again tomorrow.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #307: Jackson and Jayla

Today's dolls are some I spotted yesterday. I had never seen them before, and I thought they were really cute. So here they are, Jackson and Jayla.

.

Jackson and Jayla are characters from the Barbie TV series "It Takes Two".

Jackson and Jayla, who are twins, are the size of the current Skipper dolls. Jackson has molded, painted hair, and a checked shirt and jeans.

Jayla has a long braid, and a cute 'Happy Vibes' shirt and denim skirt...and a rather large ponytailer.

She as rooted hair and painted details around her hairline.

The dolls come with three dogs, and a bunch of accessories for taking care of them, plus an ice cream cone, and a soccer ball. I'm not sure if that's a big purse, or a bag to carry a dog in...or both.

Cute dolls, but I don't need them, or to pend money on them right now. So they stayed in the store.

Those are today's dolls. Tomorrow we'll see another interesting doll.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #305: Barbie Loves the Ocean

This is another doll I found at the bin store for $1. She's also bound for donation. But we can look at her, because he packaging has seen better days anyway. She's a Barbie Loves the Ocean doll.

She came in an all cardboard box, with no plastic window. The whole idea of the doll was to bring awareness to ocean bound plastics, and stopping plastic waste. Here's the doll herself.

The back of her box explains that she is made from recycled ocean bound plastics, the fabric is made from recycled plastic, and she is presented in recyclable packaging. It also states that apart from the doll's head and shoes, plastic parts are 'made from 90% recycled plastic sourced within 50km of waterways in areas lacking formal waste collection systems'.

There's a QR code that can be scanned 'for more information on how Barbie loves the ocean and is working toward a better future'. Great, but apparently she only loved the ocean for this one series of dolls, because I see plastic packaging on Barbie dolls all the time. Stuff like this is great, and it helps, but you have to do it ALL the time to make a real difference. Why not do it all the time?!

She's a pretty doll. She has a bright colourful dress.

She has a big smile, with teeth.

And great hair, with painted hair around her hair line.

Although I don't think it's as well painted as some others I've seen.

Online I saw her described as a curvy body, but she isn't. She's pretty skinny.

  Here's how Amazon describes her:

  • The Barbie Loves the Ocean collection features diverse dolls, fabrics and accessories made from recycled materials and ocean-bound plastics.
  • Barbie doll has a curvy body shape and naturally curly black hair. She is summer-ready in a striped sundress with a fun pineapple print and asymmetric ruffle neckline.
  • From strolling down the boardwalk at the beach to attending a backyard BBQ, her breezy and versatile look can inspire kids to dream up all sorts of summery stories.
  • Barbie doll wears white sunglasses and platform sandals made from ocean-bound plastics.
  • This sustainably minded doll comes in FSC-certified recyclable packaging that is fully closed to help reduce plastic waste.
  • Barbie Loves the Ocean not only provides kids with a sun-sational opportunity for play, but it can also encourage a love for protecting the planet and its oceans from an early age.

When I got her, her accessories were missing. That's not a big surprise, considering how things get thrown around in those bins. She was barely hanging in her box herself. I think she will still make a good gift for a kid. I managed to put her back in her restraints in her packaging, (all cardboard loops), and put her box back together pretty well. I don't think any kid is going to read the box to see what she was supposed to come with. I might throw in some new accessories I have anyway, because I bought something for one or two things, and ended up with some stuff I don't need.
She has limited articulation, and solid plastic legs, but she can move her arms and legs out to the sides, as well as back and forth.

Some good news! Our new windows come in in about 6 days, and then they will be installed shortly after. Yay!!

That's the doll for today. See you again tomorrow.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #303: Tre

   Today's doll is Tre.

Tre is a Flavas doll. If you want to read the history of Flavas, you can go to my post on Flavas Liam and   Flavas in general, HERE. To see some other Flavas, you can check out Favas in the sidebar.

Tre has blue eyes and a tiny mustache and beard.

There were at least four versions of Tre. Two versions had platinum blonde hair, and two versions had black hair. I'm not sure if there were any more.

Tre originally had two gold earrings.

Like all the Flavas, Tre has some extra articulation besides the regular five points. He's jointed at the neck, shoulders, elbows, hips, and knees.

His hip joints allow his legs to move out to the sides, as well as back and forth.

Tre didn't have any of his original clothes, which is why I couldn't tell which Tre he is. He was forced to wear this set of Ken clothes from the Barbie Life in the Dreamhouse line, that I happened to have laying around.

Just a note, I tried those shoes on both feet, and they looked like they were on the wrong feet either way.

They looked this way on either foot.

That's the doll for today. See you again tomorrow.
