Doll-A-Day 2023 #235: Patti

   Today's doll is Patti.

Patti was produced in 1964. She was a Montgomery Ward exclusive, which accounts for her price. She was made by Ideal.

Her bangs should be longer. This girl's are a bit worn. Patti has long, straight, dark hair, but their are supposedly a few rare blonde ones. This one is wearing a Pepper ballet outfit. Her original dress had a red skirt over a one piece playsuit that was white with red polka dots, with two pieces of red rick rack down the middle of the front of the bodice. I think she also had a red elastic headband.

As you may have noticed, Patti is displayed here amongst Tammy family dolls. That's because she was Pepper's friend.

Surrounded by Peppers.

You can see that they are the same height, but Patti seems to have a larger head than Pepper. I'm pretty sure they share a body though, at least, the 1964 Pepper body, not the Posin Pepper that's next to her.

There was also a rare Pepper and Patti doll case.

That's today' doll. Sorry about the bad pictures. The next post will be better, honestly! See you tomorrow.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #204: Pepper...Again!

Yes, it's another Pepper! I know you may feel you have been inundated with Peppers in the last few months. And this one looks a lot like the Pepper I showed you back in January. But I swear she's a different one.

I got her at the doll show where I won the door prize gift certificate that I bought the Coraline doll with.

She has the same strawberry blonde hair as January's Pepper, but her hair is much more full and curly.

She has the usual Ideal markings on her back.

Let's go over the same old info: Pepper is Tammy's little sister. She was made by Ideal, between 1963 and 1965.

She has five points of articulation: neck, shoulders, and hips.

Like her sister, Pepper doesn't have a very ladylike sitting position.

She had a $10 tag, but I think I managed to get her for $7.

Do I need another Pepper? No. But, well....

It's a little hard to resist that suspicious sideways glance, and the red hair, especially at such a good price.

She makes a good detective too...

I don't think they made any Tammy's with this hair colour. Has anybody ever seen one?

My sister had brown hair and mine was red. It happens. Read my posts on red hair for information on that.

The dress is one I picked up somewhere. I don't even remember any more. It had a hat too I think, or maybe it was bloomers. I know there were two pieces. It was laying in the dollhouse, waiting for a wash. So when I was given the boxes with my dollhouse stuff in them, there it was. So I brought it back and washed it up for Pepper, who was naked and waiting for her day on the blog.

It required some repairs. I had to reconnect the bodice and the skirt on one side in the back, and resew the snaps. I don't sew well. And the dress was fraying on the edges. of the fabric. I wish I had my Fray Check here, but I don't. Don't judge me!

That's it for today. See you tomorrow!

Doll-A-Day 2023 #47: Pos'n Pepper

Today's doll is, again, borrowed from Emma. She's this little girl.

She's Pos'n Pepper. (But she's wearing regular Pepper's dress.) You can see my Pos'n Pepper, who looks quite different, HERE, and HERE.

Tammy's sister Pepper was produced from 1963 to 1965. She was the longest produced member of the Tammy line, other than Tammy herself. Pepper was originally produced as a straight leg doll. Pos'n Pepper, with her bendy legs and arms, was made in 1964.

Pos'n Pepper was 14 cents more than Basic Pepper.

Pos'n Pepper had two companions, her brother, Pos'n Pete, and her friend, Pos'n Salty. As with Tammy's brother and boyfriend, Pepper's brother and friend shared the same head sculpt, and are almost impossible to tell apart. Their clothes are the only clues. (What was up with Ideal? Your boyfriend looks just like your brother? Freud would have had a field day with that one.)  For some reason, and it's not just the hair, Pepper is bigger than Pete an Salty. (You can see my Salty HERE.)

Pos'n Pepper's arms are like the standard rubbery Tammy arms, except that she has wires inside them so they can bend. They're still hard to bend though.

They can move up and down too, except they move in unison.

Her legs are much easier to bend than her arms.

And they don't have to move in unison to move back and forth.

Like regular Pepper, Pos'n Pepper has side glance eyes.

So she always looks a little suspicious.

Or like she's listening for something.

But straight on she has the faint hint of a smile.

And like regular Pepper, she has those cute freckles.

I think freckles are cute on dolls, but I was always glad I don't actually have any myself.

While regular Pepper came in various hair colours, I'm pretty sure Pos'n Pepper only came in shades of brown. Mine has a sort of light brown colour, while this one is sort of a medium brown. Here she is compared with the strawberry blonde Pepper I showed you recently.

Look at the difference in their eyebrows. I think one thing that makes this Pos'n Pepper look so suspicious is that her eyebrows are narrow on the inner part, and thick on the outside edges. Why would they paint them like that? It's like they're over the wrong eyes and should be switched.

It makes her look a little angry.

That's today's doll. See you tomorrow for another doll.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #23: Pepper

Today's doll is one I forgot I had, and I have no idea where it came from as far as the fire! I remember getting her at a doll show, but I swear I put her downstairs with the rest of the Tammy collection, She's Pepper.

  Pepper was made by Ideal.

She was the little sister of Ideal's Tammy doll.

     She stands 9 inches tall.

Pepper was produced from 1963 to 1965, longer than any other member of Tammy's Family.

This Pepper is a little more unusual because she has strawberry blonde hair.

The most common Pepper's came with brownish blonde hair.

Like this Posin' Pepper that belongs to Emma.

What I really want is the Pepper with the carrot orange hair. She's super expensive though, so at the moment I am settling for this girl.

  Pepper also has cute freckles.

She has standard jointing, at the neck, shoulders, and hips.

She can sit, but it's a bit awkward looking.

Pepper had her own wardrobe, and lots of really fun accessories.  Some of the accessories in the Tammy and Family line were so cute and realistic. I think my favourite is Pepper's reel to reel tape recorder. If I was at home right now, I would show you mine.

When I bought her she was wearing this dress. It's not a Pepper dress, and it might be home made. It looks all right on her though, for now.

You can see my posts on my other Pepper dolls HERE, HERE, And HERE. And you can watch a vintage commercial for Pepper HERE.

That's the doll for today. Hopefully tomorrow we will be retrieving my camera battery charger from the house, so I can use my camera and continue this without having to use my phone. I still don't work very well with that thing. I am not a modern person at all. I'm lucky I can do this! In any case, I'll be back tomorrow with another doll.
