Doll-A-Day 306: Trini Yellow Ranger Doll

Today's doll is Trini, the Yellow Ranger from The Power Rangers.

She was made by Bandai in the mid 90's.
She actually has bangs, but this girl's seem to have gotten used to laying up on her forehead.

She's about 8 3/4" tall.

She has a twist waist and bendable knees, but her arms are only jointed at the shoulders. That makes it impossible to put her in true Power Rangers fighting poses. That's a shame, as that would have added considerably to her playability for little Power Rangers fans.

Emma was a BIG Power Rangers fan when she was little. She had two Power Rangers,Kimberly, the Pink Ranger, and Aisha, the second Yellow Ranger. I think she got a Trini later, when she was a little older.
Both Yellow Rangers had the same symbol. The image represented their 'power' and their 'zord'. The zord was their transformery type vehicle/robot thingy. Who understands this stuff?!
You've got kind of a Lego situation here. These dolls were marketed as 'Power Rangers for Girls'. Why couldn't the girls have played with any Power Ranger?! (I'll tell you why: because the action figures couldn't be found anywhere!)
She's pretty, which is more than I can say for the doll they made of the poor second Yellow Ranger. That girl should have sued.

The 'girls' Power Rangers were just the female characters. They were sold with their Power Ranger uniform, helmet,(Actually more of a mask, since there was no back in it, to make it easier to get on and off.),holster belt with  a 'ray gun' looking weapon, and a spare outfit for when they were just being themselves, (as opposed to Power Rangers.)
Her boots are supposed to have yellow diamond shapes around the tops.I know she came that way, so maybe this is just a factory flaw. They don't look like the diamonds wore off.

Trini's 'civilian' outfit was a 'denim' shorts outfit with a shirt and floral vest.

These dolls were pretty good quality, other than their waists getting loose and wanting to turn around without them. This Trini must not have been played with much, (I got her at Goodwill, so who knows.), because she stays where you put her.

She's a bit taller than the 90's Barbie sister Stacie, and close to the size of the current Stacie, so she fits in that world pretty well.
  Tomorrow is another doll.

Doll-A-Day 277: Cool Cuts Kara and Fashions By Me, Formerly: Mystery Girls: This one's for you Night Owl!

UPDATE: Thanks to our readers Aubrey Silver and Night Owl for the information! The first doll featured is Cool Cuts Kara, and the second is Fashions By Me. For details, please see their comments below.
I recently mentioned a doll I was trying to identify, and promised one of our followers, Night Owl, that I would post some pictures. I decided to use the mystery doll as the doll for today. Night Owl, if you recognize her, let me know. Anybody else is welcome to give us some information too, of course! I have also thrown in another mystery doll I've had laying around. She's another that I don't recognize, and maybe someone else will know who she is. Here they are.

Here's the first girl. She's Kool Kuts Kara.

She has non bending arms and legs, and she's about 13" tall.

She was made by Kenner in 1990.

She has empty plug holes in her head.

BIG holes.

I have an extra head from the exact same doll, so we can see what the actual plugs looks like.

Once the plugs are in place the hair looks very full, in spite of  them being so far apart.

It's doing that sideways thing again.

The plugs are removable, because you're supposed to be able to put new ones in when you've cut the  hair and want to have a fresh head of hair. So I could switch the plugs from bodyless girl to girl with a body. They are really tight in her head though, and don't seem like they will pull out.

Maybe I could just switch the heads?

She has painted on shoes with a molded in detail. The same molded in design is on her undies.

I don't really want this doll, but I hate to just throw her away. I have a really hard time doing that. I always feel like someone somewhere would want anything if it's still usable at all, and I hate to be wasteful. If I could switch the hair, there would at least be one doll who could find a new home.
You can watch a commercial for Kool Kuts Kara HERE.

 Here's the other girl.

She was made by Hasbro in 1982.

She reminds me of Morgan Fairchild.

Ahh! Big 80's hair!

She has weird slits in her torso, arms, and legs that seem to be for tucking fabric into so you can design outfits for her with fabric bits.
+

Her body has slits down the sides and that pink fabric is tucked into them.

What the heck?! Now we're doing UP SIDE DOWN TOO?!

Poor girl has a broken arm.And I think her dress is on backwards. Maybe she tried to put it on BY COMPUTER!!

She's slightly taller than the first girl, and she's kind of curved. I don't want her either, and she's broken, but I'm curious. Also, it would be good to know for future reference.
Tomorrow's another doll. See you then.
