Doll-A-Day 2019 #246: Horsman Cinderella

  Today's doll is this lady.

She's Cinderella.

She was made by Horsman.

She's marked with an H on the back of her head.

She was produced in 1965. She came in various packaging. There was an extravagantly boxed set that included only the doll and the spare glass slipper on a cushion

There was also a version that included a head and an outfit for making her into 'poor' Cinderella too. too.

Cinderella measures 11 and a half inches tall.

I thought it was fitting to pose Cinderella in a pumpkin patch...but all I had was my cantaloupe vine!
She has the same head sculpt as Horsman's 11 and a half inch Mary Poppins, and Flying Nun dolls.

Mary and Cinderella have slightly different face paint.

Her head sculpt is similar to Tammy. Tammy was made by Ideal, but people still get Cinderella confused with Tammy, or her mom.

  She even has similar hands.

Cinderella has a tall,piled up hair-do.

There's a silver 'tiara' in her hair. This one has seen better days.

She's wearing pearl type earrings.

Her dress is satiny with lace accents. This dress has seen better days too.

Unexpectedly, her dress closes in he back with two rather large buttons.

Under her dress she's wearing a pink tulle underskirt.

Of course, she would have had shoes. Mine doesn't.

By the way, that random cantaloupe I have growing: It came up on it's own after I threw a rotten cantaloupe we forgot to eat in my garden spot this Spring. I was hoping it would, It started late though, and I thought it wasn't going to do anything but grow blooms. But today I discovered that I am with cantaloupe! We have at least two babies growing!

Of course,it's so late in the season that the cantaloupes and the blooms on my tomato plants, will probably not have time to grow into a mature fruit before the weather gets too cold. Still.

That's the doll for today. Tomorrow we go car shopping again, but we'll still be looking at another doll too. See you then.

Doll-A-Day 2017 #342: Princess on Ice Cinderella

Today's doll is nice and wintery.

She's Princess on Ice Cinderella.

She was produced in 2004

She's such a pretty doll.

With beautiful ringlets.

Her dress is very pretty too. I think they did a good job of translating the classic Disney Cinderella dress into a skating outfit.

It's a shame that such a pretty doll has to be hampered with a cloddy feature like the waist-situated skating handle.

I hate these things. You can't get regular doll clothes on dolls with this thing, and it just looks weird.Plus it moves around all over the place when you're trying to handle the doll.

Or take her picture.
There was a beautiful Olympic skater with the Kira head sculpt that had the same crappy skating handle. Love her. Hate the handle.

I guess kids like it, because they keep making these things,but...ug.

You'll notice that this girl is missing the blades from her skates.

If you've had any of these skates you'll know that they open up for putting on and taking off. You'll also know that every time you open them, the blades fall out! It was actually handier to not have them on though, because otherwise she would have had an even harder time standing up on our glass patio table, which is doing a pretty good job passing as ice.

Ok,except there is a tree growing out of the middle of the pond. Ok. But how else was she going to stand up on that glass table in a skating pose? That tree is there for a reason!

She also came with an extra dress and a  pair of pink fur boots with blue fur trim. The boots didn't have soles. They were all furry. They didn't really look like boots, more like the kind of big hairy cozy slippers you wear around the house. I got her second hand,so I don't have the dress, which was kind of ugly anyway. But I do have the boots, although I'm not sure I got them when I got her.

That's it for today

Tomorrow is Shrunken Saturday. We'll see you then for a mini doll.

Doll-A-Day 2017 #152:Disney Girls:Anna,Elsa,Aurora,and Cinderella

Yay! Last day of the Goodwill dolls. I'm glad, because I'm getting tired of talking about it! Today we're looking at some Disney dolls I got in The Hauls.First up, a quick look at these two.

These are some simple Frozen Elsa and Anna dolls.Unfortunately Elsa has molded clothing on her torso. Her sheer over thingy was on somebody else, but I got it!Poor Anna is completely naked though. She doesn't even have molded on clothes.

I hate to ruin complete and mint dolls, but since these girls are essentially naked, I'm thinking about trying a repaint on one or both of them.
On to the other dolls. These two were naked, but these dresses, which suit them fairly well, were in the bag of clothes I got.

Aurora, from Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella, are both Disney Store Classic dolls.

Stupid camera wouldn't focus on both of them at the same time. That's what happens when I have to hold them and photograph them by myself, and, like most people,I only have two hands.

That means they have nicely articulated arms...

...weird soft click kneed legs, and bodies that don't fit Barbie dresses very well.

That bodice is a little baggy.

Cinderella didn't have enough chest for her dress, and Aurora's dress wouldn't close in the back all the way.

Their articulated arms are very graceful, but a bit thin.

Both are beautiful dolls, but of the two I think Aurora wins.

She also reminds me of Morgan Fairchild.

She has more detail in her eyes than Cinderella.

Plus her sideglance eyes give her alot more personality.
The hair on these girls isn't the greatest though.

The hair on both of them is crispy, even their bangs.I've seen dolls have hair that gets crispy on the ends. But why is hair as short as bangs, which have probably never even been combed, just as crispy?

It's been said many times, but it's still true: Disney Store dolls have awful legs! Better that they keep them covered in these long dresses.

And that's it for the dolls I got in one week,(three trips,) to a single Goodwill. Shew! That took a while. I was excited about them when I got them, but once I started doing the posts on them, there were so many other dolls I wanted to feature, and I couldn't until they were finished. So I am relieved to finish them up and move onto the dolls that have been waiting in the wings.Tomorrow will be a random doll I may or may not have gotten at a thrift store at some point! Come back and see what it is!
