Doll-A-Day 2023 #324: Hong Kong Liddle Kiddles Clone

Today's doll is another Fuzz rescued from someone's trash with a bunch of vintage things. She's this tiny girl.

She's obviously a clone of Mattel's Liddle Kiddles, and not a bad one at that. She's a couple of inches or so tall, and has a very Kiddles face and eyes, and the same style body.

Like the other doll Fuzz rescued, she needs a bit of a clean up.

She's obviously a clone though, because she's marked Hong Kong. If she were a real Kiddle she'd be Japan.

She has red hair in two ponytails, and a blue polka dot dress that's glued shut. To wash it, I'd have to rip is apart and take it off. Real Kiddles had removable clothing.

Kiddles were rubber with wires armatures for posing. This girl seems to be the same, but she doesn't bend very well.

She has a strange tall pair of plastic undies.

Pardon my nasty fingernails. I've never been very good at having nice nails.

That's today's doll. Tomorrow you may begin to see some bombardment of posts, in an effort to catch up for the year. Look out.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #288: Hong Kong Doll

Yeah, okay. I missed yesterday. We were gone all day and got back to Emma's fairly late. When we got here I washed the dishes, changed the litter box, and emptied the trash cans. After that I took a shower and didn't even eat a bowl of cereal like I was going to, because I felt lousy. I didn't even feel like doing a post. I hadn't gotten anything photographed during the day anyway. And I even brought some dolls to photograph, which I now have to return to storage. But anyway, I am catching up a little today. I will still be 10 days behind for the year, (And yes, I still intend to catch up before the end of the year.), but I won't be 11! So there will be two posts today. Here's the first one.

This girl is a mystery doll. I don't know who she is.

She's about 4 or 5 inches tall.

Her only markings are the 'made in Hong Kong' on her back.

She has movable limbs and head.

From her outfit and the style of her eye paint, I would say she's from the 1970's.

Her hair is gathered into two ponytails. Her dress closes in the back, (although not very well!), with a tie at the neck. Her apron is part of her dress. She has a pair of nylon undies, and white boots.

She herself is made of cheap plastic, and her boots are too. They aren't squashy, but they aren't hard either. they are sort of medium soft, but have still managed to split. Other than that she's in very nice condition.

If anybody knows who she is, or who she was made by, please leave a comment. If anybody wants to adopt her, she's yours for a couple of dollars and postage. Leave your contact information and I'll get back to you.

That's it for...yesterday? Don't forget to check for today's second post too.

Doll-A-Day 2023 #87: Plastic Baby

This little guy was rescued from the house recently. Or maybe this girl. In any case, it's today's doll.

This doll is about 9 inches tall. The only markings I can find are on it's back, and say Made in Hong Kong.

I would say this kid is from the 1950's or 60's. The body and limbs are hollow plastic, and the head is vinyl.

She has a bottle mouth, but no opening. Not a drink and wet baby.

When the baby was brought here for cleaning up, it had a spot of something oily on it's face. I'm afraid when I tried to clean it off I removed a bit of it, but the rest I kind of smeared into a bigger spot! I couldn't get any more off. The kid now has a large birthmark.

She had molded detail in her hair, blushed cheeks, and painted eyes, She's jointed at the neck, shoulders, and hips.

There might have been a dress over this slip originally, but when I got this baby, this is all it was wearing.

There's no closure of any kind on it.

I have some bottles and little things that probably go with this baby. If anybody want to adopt her, she's free but for the shipping. Just leave a comment with your contact information and address, so we can calculate shipping.

See you tomorrow for another doll.

Doll-A-Day 2019 #97: Heimlich

Today is my son's 24th birthday. So today I'm featuring a doll that is both from his collection, and mine. He's this little guy.

He's only just short of 4 inches tall.

A few posts back I told you how I used to hang out with my dad when I was a kid. We did things like going to the junk yard to get car parts,(Dad had to have all the chrome letters that spelled out the name of the car in place.),and to the gas station to get the tires rotated. Things like that. One day we were getting the tires done, and I found this guy. When I found him he was missing one arm, but he did have his original red and white checked shirt and red pants. I always felt sorry for him because he looked like he'd had a tough time, and because he needed help. He has a weird, lumpy Elephant Man stomach.

The poor kid also has a hunchback.

I played with him when I was a kid, but he just never seemed happy to me. When Fuzz was little he had just about every Tommy doll they ever made. His favourite toy, which went everywhere with him, was Fuzzy the Doll,a doll of Fuzzy I made from a Tommy doll to match Emma's Emma the Doll. Since the little gas station guy was just about Tommy size,I gave him to Fuzz. I couldn't remember what I had named him when I was a kid. I always thought he was made in Germany. (Turns out he's made in Hong Kong!).

Anyway, thinking he was German, I renamed him Heimlich. (I know that's not a first name. It should have been Heinrich, but Heimlich was funnier, cause, you know, the 'maneuver'.) Fuzz immediately set about making him part of Fuzzy the Doll's crowd.

He has very badly painted on shoes and socks...or maybe that one sock is supposed to be falling down.
Fuzz stripped off Heimlich's old clothes, the only ones he'd ever had, and gave him new Tommy clothes, which he got to change frequently, just like all the other guys.

He even did something about that missing arm...

Fuzz played like a boy does with action figures, only he used Tommy dolls. These guys carried around weapons and suitcases full of money. But whatever they did,Heimlich was right there in the middle of it. Finally he seemed to belong. I think he's happy now.
Tomorrow we'll look at another doll. See you then.

Doll-A-Day 2017 #288: Moody Cutie Crying Hong Kong Baby

Update: A reader has informed me that this is a Moody Cutie doll. As the reader commented, and I see in searching online, they also seem to be referred to as Hawaiian dolls.

I spent the day with Emma and Ivy today, so here's a quick post on a weird little kid I found at my favourite Goodwill. It's this crying baby.

All I know about it is that it says 'Hong Kong' on the bottom...

...and it's 3" tall.

The head is a separate piece and can turn.

It might be by Imperial Toys, as I see several similar toys by them in my Google search.

She has lots of red hair too.
That's it for today. Join us tomorrow for another doll.

Doll-A-Day 2017 #239: Hong Kong Barbie Clone and This Week's Yard Sale Stuff

The troll I showed you yesterday was part of Friday's yard sale haul. Here's the stuff that's of interest:

Monsters Inc light up Sulley,a Liv doll,a Barbie clone,Raggedy Ann box,Wizard of Oz album,Vintage Christmas ornaments, an Enesco lady, yesterday's troll,a tiny tubular fellow,a Bitty Baby, and a farm house.
This little guy is cute. He definitely doesn't pass today's criteria for non-choking hazard toys though. Does anybody recognize him?

I thought I'd done well, getting this Bitty Baby for $1.

She has a nice face and good hair, her body is clean. The only thing is, she has a chewed hand, which is bad, and a damaged foot, which isn't quite as obvious.
This is a really pretty Liv doll, fully dressed and with her wig.

She has purpley eye shadow, which I didn't have on the other Livs I 've found in these clothes.

The little house is from a New Ray Deluxe Farm Playset.

It doesn't have a floor in the upstairs area, and none of the doors open.Cute though.I paid 75 cents, and one sold online as a G scale house for model railroads, for $35!
The box is a Knickerbocker Raggedy Ann box from 1964.

Today's doll is the Barbie clone.

She's 11 1/2" tall, like a real Barbie. I would bet this is her original bathing suit.
She's marked only Made in Hong Kong. She looks very much like the Cragstan Fashion Model doll.

She has the style of eye make up similar to the original Barbie faces...

...but she has long, straight hair with bangs, like the later Mod Era Barbies.

She's made of a cheap.thin, hollow plastic, with simple joints. Her head is on a ball joint though,so it can tilt.

You may have seen my past posts on Barbie clone dolls. If not you can see them HERE,HERE, and HERE.
Tomorrow is another doll. See you then.

Doll-A-Day 2017 #187:Hong Kong Heidi Clone Peggy

    Today's doll is this girl.

I say this is a clone of Remco's 1960's Heidi doll, for reasons I'll relate in a minute. But she doesn't initially seem to resemble Remco's Heidi at all.

She has a completely different face from Heidi,or any of her friends.

She looks like she's holding her breath.

She's just a little over 5" tall,while Heidi measures a full 5 1/2".

In spite of this, our girl today seems bigger than Heidi. Maybe because Heidi has a stubbier body and a  smaller head.

Well,maybe not.
I think she may be this girl. That one extra dress is similar to this one. Her case even looks like Heidi purse case.

This is from the 1967 Alden's catalog.

She's marked only 'Hong Kong,on her back.

Her body is made of a strange translucent hard plastic. Her head and limbs are a softer vinyl, more like the real Heidi's.

Her arms and hands are direct copies of Heidi's.

Although she doesn't have the button in her stomach that Heidi has,or the 'waving' arm it was meant to control.

Same torso otherwise though.

Her hair is a  more silky fiber than Heidi and friends too. Their hair can often be rather crispy.

And her dress may or may not be her original, but I'm almost positive it's a Heidi dress.

I should have photographed her with Heidi,I now realize. I'll update this post tomorrow. but today is already  tomorrow,it's so late. So you'll just have to trust me and check back later!
UPDATE:The pictures have been added. See? I keep my promises...usually.

See you tomorrow for another doll, and coming soon, a review!
