What Do You Mean You Didn't Notice I Was Gone?!

I have been away for a while. My computer wire wore through and I had to get a new one. So while I was waiting for a new one to arrive I busied myself with other things. I hung out a lot of laundry, mowed the yard again, washed up some second hand things,(Including some things you'll be seeing soon.),worked in the yard a bit, sorted through a bunch of things, cleaned off my desk, and my record player,(Which I am back to using due to my CD player refusing to open when asked. Unfortunately, the crappy modern record player doesn't work well either.),sorted through more things,(I have a lot of things.),and photographed some dolls for future use. I photographed today's doll one sunny day. So, in honour of National Sun Day today,(Which I learned about via Emma's radio show tonight, which celebrated with a 'sun' theme.),here she is.

She's a Living Skipper. You might have seen a little of her in my post on a different doll HERE.

In fact.she's just about my favourite of my Living Skipper dolls.

I got her in a lot on Ebay. When I got her she was just a head.

She also had part of one eye missing..

Her skin tone was so beautiful that she was worth saving. I repainted her eye.

I have rebodied her a couple of times at least. Her currant body is in pretty good shape.

Her knees bend pretty well,as do her elbows.

There is still damage though.

She really deserves a good body because her head is so nice.

So I'm still looking to upgrade her body again.

As you can see, the flowers on my ground cover vines are blooming like crazy.

Her dress could use an upgrade too, but I think I can repair it. It's the dress from the 1970 Skipper fashion Pink Princess.

The dress also has a green coat with pink velvet trim, and a pink 'fur' hat.

Happy Sun Day!

  See you soon.

Doll-A-Day 123: Skipper Saturday: Titian Twist and Turn Skipper

I took today's pictures the other day when it was quite overcast. Today was a very nice Spring day, even if it couldn't decide if it wanted to be sunny or dark. For most of the day it was quite sunny with a cool wind. I saw the first flower bloomed out on my lilacs by the back door. The Selfish Giants were out doing yard work and playing extremely loud music. (You know. The kind of thing they would call the police over if I did it.)
As I was hanging my laundry out, a honey bee landed on my pin basket. It was very tiny, the smallest I've ever seen. It was probably half the size of a regular bee. I hope the bees are just sending out the youngsters, and this isn't a sign the bees are doing poorly. His back legs were covered with pollen, so he looked like he was wearing a pair of puffy yellow pants.I watched him as he cleaned his face and front legs. When he took off I urged him "To the pear tree! To the pear tree!" I was afraid he was heading off, but he did land on the pear tree after all. Maybe he will tell his friends and I will get some pears this year!
This week's Skipper Saturday is my favourite Skipper.

I could use a better version of her, but the titian Twist and Turn Skipper is my all time favourite.

She has rooted eyelashes, and the pink Mod Era skin tone, with blushy cheeks.

Unfortunately my girl has had a bit of a bangs trim. She's still beautiful though.I can pretend she has cowlick for a doll this pretty...

She's wearing one  of my very favourite Skipper fashions too: Posy Party, from 1968.

Posy Party includes the flowered dress, a hot pink under dress with a flowered ruffle that matches the dress, white lace stockings, soft hot pink flats, and an ice cream sundae and spoon.

Lacey sleeves too.

My girl is wearing the dress and flats. I'm not sure if my dress is a little faded, or if it came bright or muted.

The shoes are a softer plastic than the earlier Skipper flats. They're almost rubbery.

As you can see, the wild, (but inedible) strawberries are flourishing.

Tomorrow starts a theme week. What will it be?

Doll-A-Day 101: Straight Leg Skooter in Rainy Day Checkers

Today's doll is a brunette straight leg Skooter.

Skooter was the first friend produced for Skipper. She was short lived though. She was only produced for a couple of years, 1965-67. In spite of her short run, Skooter is fairly plentiful, and a nice Skooter can be had fairly cheaply.I think Skooter has the most cartoonish face of any Barbie family or friends doll ever made. Maybe that's why she was discontinued. She's so cute though. If you read my post on Charmin Chatty, you'll know that Skooter and Charmin are practically identical, just different sizes.
She's wearing the Skipper fashion Rainy Day Checkers from 1966.

Rainy Day Checkers consists of a plaid dress, felt vest, thigh high red socks, black shoes, and a tiny set of checkers and a checker board.
The vest is felt. I have the feeling this one has been washed. Be very careful when washing these old doll clothes. Most of the felt is wool, not like felt is these days, and it will shrink and/or prune up.
There is so much nice detail in this outfit. These vintage clothes were made so well.

I don't have the checkers and board. As you can imagine, those are the hard pieces to find, and are more expensive than the pieces of the outfit.

I'll be running on very little sleep for the next couple of days. Emma and I are off soon for Toledo to see Red Green live. (What will that be like?) Then I have to get up super early tomorrow to go to the flea market with Lori. I have updated yesterday's post with a few more pictures of the 100 dolls. I figured it took so much time and trouble I wanted to get as much as possible out of it!
Tomorrow is Skipper Saturday again!

Doll-A-Day 81: Skipper Saturday: Twist and Turn Skipper in Fancy Pants

This Saturday's Skipper is a blonde Twist and Turn doll.

She has rooted eyelashes, a twist and turn waist and bend legs.

For a change I got a blonde TNT that didn't have a haircut!

She has much finer, much paler blonde hair than the haircut Skipper in All Over Felt that I featured recently.

She has a very fair complexion and very glossy pink lips.

She's wearing Fancy Pants from 1970.It's a two piece outfit, with a ruffled top and ruffled pants.Crazy Man!

Fancy Pants is supposed to have light blue shoes, but these soft pink Skipper flats look pretty good with it.It also came with a matching pink vinyl purse with a daisy on it.

You didn't think I was going to get by without the One Hair, did you?
Fancy Pants is notorious for the shoulder straps splitting or coming unsewn.

There is also a rare orange and pink striped version of Fancy Pants.
Sunday usually starts a new theme, but I still have birthday presents left! Ken kind of let me go crazy this year! So I'll be showing you some J Dolls in the next few days.
