Doll-A-Day 2017 #361: Holiday Elves

  Here we are, counting down  the days to the new year. Today we're counting down with these guys.

This bunch of elves, or pixies,are in coordinating green and white stripes.

The two have the exact same faces as a pair I have from my childhood.

This one is counting the hours!

I have to admit,in spite of his seeming lack of eyes,this one is my favourite of the group.

He was made in Japan.

This little guy isn't as showy as the others, but he is cute. I have a weakness for elves though.

This pair have the most personality of the bunch.

I won't be long until New Year's Eve. Hopefully I'll have something interesting to show you before then. It has been so cold the last week that I haven't been wanting to take photos outside. It was 2 degrees today,and that's Fahrenheit!

One last photo of these guys,and we're out of here for today.

  Tomorrow will be another doll. I did get a couple for Christmas.

Doll-A-Day 2017 #360:Rainbow Kate

  I hope everyone had a nice holiday. Today we're looking at a very colourful character.

She's Rainbow Kate,and she's a Shopkins Shoppies doll,from the Fancy Dress Party series.
 

She's pretty cute.I found her recently at my favourite Goodwill.

I wasn't sure what she was because I am more familiar with the little Shopkins toys of objects.

As cute as she was,she left here on Christmas eve. Se went to be a surprise for a little girl whose mother was having trouble getting gifts together for Christmas, I hope she liked her.

This picture was taken a few days ago, but we are still buried under snow,and it's freezing cold.

  We're coming own to the wire now. Only a few days left in this year! We'll see you tormorrow for one of the last dolls of the year.

Doll-A-Day 2017 #359: Merry Christmas! It's a Musical Elf!

  To all those who celebrate Christmas,I hope you're having a wonderful day!

This guy is my largest elf.
 

He would probably be over 12" tall if he were all stretched out.

He's a bit faded,but how cute is he?!

I gave him the little vintage Christmas tree. he looked like his arms should be holding something.

He has a couple of special features. He plays music,and he moves. He still works perfectly.

Doll-A-Day 2017 #358:Santa Claus

  It's Christmas eve! I made it. Everything is done but filling the stockings and wrapping Ivy and Fuzzy's cheese,which,being cheese,has had to be kept in the fridge until Christmas morning. I wrap it as close to Christmas as possible so the paper doesn't get soggy. If you're wondering why they get cheese,it's special cheese that we have to drive over an hour to get,in a town we never go to otherwise. And, duh, it's cheese!
   Well, no rain yet. We still have snow.Today we're celebrating Christmas eve with Santa Claus!

You can recognize him by the giant gash on his forehead.

The larger guy has a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on his backside, but it also says 'Made in Japan'.

 

Huh?!

They're a sweet pair of Santas.

Doll-A-Day 2017 #357: Christmas Elves

  Hey,my back is much better! I am in only the usual pain today.
  Here it is almost Christmas. I am finally getting around to posting some Christmassy dolls.

When I was a kid I had several of these Christmas elves.or as we called them,pixies. You may have seen my post on the doll I've had longer than any other,my Christmas pixie that my sister gave me for Christmas when I was 2 years old. If not, you can see him HERE.

He looks like a larger version of this guy.

These all came from yard sales or maybe thrift stores.

We had actual snow today. It's supposed to rain tomorrow though, which will ruin everything.

I have been using a little fake tree on the patio table for pictures lately. Today I was going to use it,but the green dye has started to run off. It was all over the base of the tree, and the snow on the table was green underneath. So i had to resort to using real trees!

Doll-A-Day 2017 #356: Pos'n Pepper

  Today I'm only in continuous pain. At least it doesn't come as a surprise!. So here's a quick doll.

She's Pos'n Pepper.

Pos'n Pepper is, as her name suggests,the bendable version of Tammy's sister Pepper.

She has bendy arms and legs,and a skinnier body than regular Pepper.

She was made by Ideal in 1965  .

She has borrowed an ice skatery looking outfit that was on a Liv doll I got. I'm not sure it's a Liv outfit though. It fits Pepper very well.

It's almost Christmas! I have just about everything done. I spent the evening watching Dave Gorman shows with Ivy and copying down Fuzzy's favourite family foods into a recipe book I'm giving him for Christmas. My back is even feeling better too.

Doll-A-Day 2017 #355:Living Skipper in Best Buy

  My back is feeling much better today. I can actually move around and do things for long periods of time without screaming...and then I do. But anyway,it's much better, and I am pretty much up with all my Christmas stuff. Everything wrapped except a couple of things I'm going to take care of in a minute,and all my shopping done...I think. Ken and Ivy and I relaxed last night,(For me it was as well as I could).,and watched loads of Christmas movies. We watched two versions of 'A Christmas Carol",(the 1938 MGM version, and the 80's TV version with George C. Scott.),"March of the Wooden Soldiers",(Also called "Babes in Toyland". It's the Laurel and Hardy version.),"Santa Claus is Coming to Town",(Ivy put it on.We haven't watched it for years, since she was small.),and then they fell asleep, and I watched what came on next,which was Rudolph. Haven't seen that for years either. While I was doing yesterday's post I watched most of "A Charlie Brown Christmas". I haven't seen that for ages either. So now if we watch "The Muppet Christmas Carol" and How the Grinch Stole Christmas",I have the classics covered!
  Today's doll is all cozied up in a nice coat. It wasn't very cold today anyway,so she barely even needed it!

She's Living Skipper.

She sort of has her hair down,(although I haven't taken the part out in the back). I like the way it looks from the front this way.

The outfit is actually two coordinating Best Buy fashions from 1976. The coat is 9121, and should have a black belt with a red buckle, and a matching Tam-O-Shanter with a black ribbon on top.

 
The dress underneath is from Best Buy #9122. It consists of a dress with black vest top with two red buttons,and a skirt part that matches the coat

She should have a white blouse under the dress,but I'm missing that.
 

Living Skipper is one of the least popular vintage Barbie family dolls.I've said this before,but I can't see why. Some Living Skipper dolls are really beautiful.Sometimes they did overdo the eyelashes,I'll admit.

They have beautiful lips too.

And Living Skipper had great posability. She has a twist waist that can also lean,jointed elbows(under rubber skin(,jointed wrists (exposed),and those wonderful bendy knees that were made to really bend in those days.
